Currently enjoying favorable reviews for his turn as a Nazi colonel in Quentin Tarantino’s INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, Austrian actor Christoph Waltz has signed up to play the lead villain in THE GREEN HORNET. Waltz is replacing Nicolas Cage who had previously been in talks to play a Los Angeles crime boss named Chudnofsky who attempts to unite local gangs.
Seth Rogen is set to play the title role with Asian pop superstar Jay Chou cast as his martial arts-trained sidekick Kato, a role originally played by Bruce Lee in the ’60s-era TV series. Cameron Diaz is also signed on to play Rogen’s love interest.
Michel Gondry is directing an action comedy script by Rogen and Evan Goldberg that’s based on THE GREEN HORNET radio series by George W. Trendle.
