Character posters for ‘True Legend’

A recent press event for Yuen Woo-ping’s upcoming kung fu actioner TRUE LEGEND has yielded new character posters. Featured in order are leading actors Vincent Zhao (as So Qi-er), Zhou Xun, Michelle Yeoh, Andy On, and Guo Xiaodong.

One of the film’s co-stars, Jiang Lu-xia, was in attendance at the event. Jiang is one of China’s few wushu-trained females currently being groomed for stardom. She made her lead debut in Xiong Xin-xin’s indie actioner COWEB after first gaining a local fan following by posting a series of videos on the web that highlighted her fighting skills.

In TRUE LEGEND, Jiang plays “Tie JI,” an evil character who works for the lead villain, portrayed by Andy On. She has a substantial number of fight scenes with leading man Vincent Zhao.

Apparently, some of those fights were quite dangerous. According to Jiang, Yuen Woo-ping was pushing her to make physical contact with her weapon, but without hurting Zhao. In another sequence she was nearly buried under a collapsed roof while losing her footing on the way out of a house.

TRUE LEGEND is scheduled for release in the second week of February, 2010.
