D.A. Jackson goes from preacher to fighter in ‘Prodigal’

By Mark Pollard | Published July 6, 2009

PRODIGAL (2006) Three years after completion, PRODIGAL, the third action film from Workhorse Pictures and indie filmmaker and action star D. Al’deighmian Jackson is coming to DVD from Maverick Entertainment Group.

PRODIGAL is the story of an ex-preacher (Jackson) who finds himself estranged from his family and trying to escape his past. After a violent and death-defying escape, Jacob Divine takes his new wife back to his hometown where he discovers a new fight that threatens to draw him back into his dark tendencies. Filled with spectacular stunts and frenetically paced fight scenes, this multi-award winning film has raised the bar for all Workhorse projects to come.

The film co-stars Jefro, Jeff Moise and Danya Wilson.

For his leading role in the actioner, Jackson was awarded “Breakout Action Star” at the 2006 Action on Film Festival. He also wrote and directed the film, as well as two previously self-produced indie actioners, THAT BRUTHA’ FROM SHAOLIN (2004) and TWO (2002).

According to the official site for Workhorse Pictures, D.A. Jackson is currently adapting his faith-based action novel, “Triduanus,” into a screenplay that is self-described as LORD OF THE RINGS meets 300.

PRODIGAL arrives to DVD on September 8. It’s now available for pre-order at Amazon.
