A $10 million sequel to Wilson Yip’s DRAGON TIGER GATE is in the works from Enlight Pictures and producer Gordon Chan. Dante Lam (THE SNIPER, BEAST COPS) has been picked to direct. Enlight is teaming with a recently formed Asian Alliance of film companies led by Salon Films to muster funds for the project.
The upcoming film and its predecessor are both based on the nearly 40-year-old comic book series “Oriental Heroes” by Tony Wong Yuk-long. Enlight intends to broaden the franchise further by developing a video game based on the series.
No word on if any of the original film’s stars including Donnie Yen, Nicholas Tse and Shawn Yue will be returning for a second round of CG and wire-assisted martial arts action.
