Dolph Lundgren at the ROCKY BALBOA premiere.

Jean-Claude Van Damme may live to regret turning down a role in Sylvester Stallone’s THE EXPENDABLES but his loss is Dolph Lundgren’s gain. Sly’s ROCKY IV co-star, who was picked to replace the Muscle from Brussels, has revealed new plot details about his character in the action film and who he might end up fighting onscreen.

Lundgren recently spoke to Wizard (via JoBlo.com) and had the following to say.

I play a mercenary who’s part of Sly’s team. He’s kind of a victim of the violence. He ends up getting fired by Stallone. Later in the picture, some other sinister character trying to get back at Sly and his people, hires me to take him out. Because I need the money, I do it. There’s a showdown between me, him and Jet Li.

Sly, Lundgren and Li in a three-way battle? Yes, please.

I know that Van Damme should had take that role instead of talking about the character.
There could be movies like Daniel Bernhardt and Dolph Lundgren should team up to make the movie toghter and the martial arts newcomer Mitt Lenix should get a role playing a good guy fighting against Dolph Lundgren.
Daniel Bernhardt plays a villian in the movie Ultimate Champion alone with MMA chapion Stephan Bonnar,Bernhardt should get a role with Lundgren in the film if they make the movie with Mitt Lenix in the future.
So Dolph good luck to you for the Expendables movie.
    Thank You.

I agree, JCVD is dumb to have turned down a movie. It would help boost his career and appear in the big screen instead of continue making movies that go straight to video. DL was smart to take the scipt because he is still great as an action star, whether it be a bad guy or good guy. Besides, a three way fight with great action stars is great to see. I hope the action scenes is not fake and looks credible, no wires or fight scenes that are too much cheorograph lik Romeo must die,

Van Damme is a IDIOT for turning down the role. His ego stil thinks he is a big star, he isn't! (JCVD movie stunk like a skunk dreadful! but was different and he actually acted moderately better than usual). Van Damme is on the Steven Seagallevel faded action start that will NEVER hit the big time again. Van Damme had chance to get highter profile, maybe better roles after 'The Expendables', he will live to regret it I'm sure.

i think van damme turns down any role that have like lots of stars in it. i dunno whats up his @ss.... he's probably scared of being out shined by the other stars. he needs to realize how old he is now, and should of taken the role. geez its just film entertainment, not a freakin competition.
