Coming to region 1 DVD on January 22nd from The Weinstein Company’s Dragon Dynasty label is a two-disc “Ultimate Edition” release of FATAL CONTACT, a violent martial arts actioner from Hong Kong starring KILL ZONE’s Wu Jing.
A naïve young athlete, Kong (Wu) joins an underground prizefighting circuit to earn a little extra money to support his girlfriend. Surrounded by greed and ruthlessness, he is hardened into a brutal fighting machine, defeating opponent after opponent in a series of vicious battles, until he reaches the ultimate showdown where both his life and his soul hang in the balance.
Wu is one of China’s most talented up-and-coming martial arts stars who in recent years has been making a successful transition from local television to international feature film. As a leading villain in KILL ZONE going against Donnie Yen, Wu made his first significant appearance before international audiences. In FATAL CONTACT, he gets to show what he’s really capable of as a star.
The film features the direction of Hong Kong Film Award nominee Dennis Law (TRIAD ELECTION) and action choreography from Nicky Li (INVISIBLE TARGET).
Dragon Dynasty’s two-disc ULTIMATE EDITION includes “A Dragon Rising: A Featurette with Leading Man Wu Jing,” “The Ringmaster: An Interview with Dennis Law,” “Working Girl: An Interview with co-star Teresa Fu,” “Young and Dangerous: An Interview with co-star Miki Yeung,” “Life is a Contact Sport: Behind-the-scenes of FATAL CONTACT,” Feature-length commentary by director Dennis Law and Hong Kong cinema expert Bey Logan, and a trailer gallery.
