Sylvester Stallone in training for THE EXPENDABLES (2010).

After spending the last few weeks in Brazil, the cast and crew of Sylvester Stallone’s all-star actioner THE EXPENDABLES have arrived in New Orleans and begun shooting.

Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Jason Statham, and Dolph Lundgren are all in town to for the location shoot that was hand-picked by Sly according to publicity director Cheryl Main.

“Sly really loves New Orleans. This was his choice. And we’re really, really excited to be here and we appreciate the hospitality that’s been extended to us,” said Main.

The story follows a team of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country, overthrow a ruthless dictator and liberate the people.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has a small role in the film but has already shot his scenes in California.

Shooting will continue in New Orleans through June. THE EXPENDABLES is scheduled for release on April 23rd, 2010.
