First poster for ‘Ninja Assassin’

By Mark Pollard | Published May 2, 2009

Italian-language film site ScreenWEEK has released the first poster for the Wachowski brothers’ NINJA ASSASSIN. It features the star, Korean pop singer Rain, shirtless in the… rain. I won’t be surprised if the marketing for this movie continues with the precipitation theme.

Rain is shown wielding two weapons. One is a katana or possibly a shorter variant of a Japanese sword and the other is a rather wicked-looking curved short blade attached to a chain, suggesting that it’s used as a short-range throwing weapon, like a rope dart.

News regarding NINJA ASSASSIN has been slim so far this year with the most recent being a tentative release date of November 25th.

Brother Kage I sense you didn't except my opinions on NINJA ASSASSIN, to each his own, But all I was saying that the poster doesnt reflect the expectations many of us are hoping for, Could it be that this is a teaser poster and we'll soon be graced by a better one...heres to hoping guys. In the meantime refresh your memories with Sho Kosugi's ninja flics until NINJa and NINJA ASSASSIN are released.....

    Drunkenmasterbates :
James mcteigue said in one interview "The fight choreographers kept coming and said Rain is amazing, he could do this he could do that. we dont have like an actor we brough in before who could do these things that Rain can do"

if you remembered very well, the same fight choreographers have worked with the like of Collin Chou, did he mean Rain could do better than Collin? Collin is a martial art artist.
    i wonder.....

I recently read two reports on this movie, it seems like the Wachowski's are more pivotal in reintroducing the ninja to a new audience. I agree that projecting new life into the ninja genre is more than forthcoming it should resurrect the action movie as a whole I've been dissapointed with most of hollywoods releases, but it seems that Hong Kong and Thailand are fast producing some of the best movies this side of North america.
I look forward to seeing Sho Kougi come back to the big screen, he was the orchestrator of some fair ninja flics during his run in the 80's.
I will definitely give Rain his moment to display his acting as well as his martial art skill for this movie. I sincerely think that a good movie, always starts with the right written story. So i await for this film as well as Issac Florentine's Ninja Assassin w/ Scott Adkins who in my mind right now is the one to inject new blood to our amreican Audiences

Kage: But does it actually show the fight scenes?

Love Kung Fu: I'd only be ok with ninja movies as long as they don't give us the DB: E equivalent of Naruto.
  • Part of me hopes that this film is a big success...I would love to see a flurry of quality Ninja flicks hit the big screen and DVD releases. Ninja movies all too often fall prey to some of the hokey myths and poor camera effects....it would be great to see some quality ninja flicks with some grit.

pop singers are not martial artists. this movie could be pretty weak
  • that guy
    ninja-to not a katana

katana's are curved and dont as a rule have square hand guards.
