I'm working on a samurai film project with some sword fighting in it. I heard I should use aluminum swords but someone else told me to use bamboo swords (I didn't find any in the states). Can someone be some help to let me know which swords I should be using knowing that the actors themselves will be fighting (with proper training).
Thank you

dude,
use aluminum,it looks like metal,is light and can be manipulated by actors easily.the downside is the cost of making them and excessive contact tends to bend the blades .bamboo is dangerous,it splinters and is very sharp, unless they were talking about using shinai-training swords.but on camera these things would look alittle silly.

You can find some unsharpened steel swords for fairly cheap (www.centuryma.com)
