Have you guys seen the new 3D LCD TVs that are being peddled in some consumer electronic stores now? I haven't actually seen a demo of one, but I'm assuming they're designed to convert a regular video image into something that simulates 3D when you look at them through special glasses.

From what I know, 3D technology requires special cameras to photograph it, but to view it, you could have something basic like the old cathode ray TVs. I remember watching some 3D movies on TV during the 80s using glasses bought from a nearby store, and it looked just like 3D in the theatres. No special TV was required.

So are you guys going to drop $2500 to $3000 for a new, 3D LCD TV? Personally, I think the only true technological breakthrough that would require a new TV would be 3D TV that doesn't require glasses. Maybe something that projects the image slightly out front, perhaps using a parabolic or have pipe shaped screen.

Not sure if a 3D webcam would work if you pointed it at a TV?
