Hey, Whenever I get the time and the finances, I would like to form a film company that specializes in making Black-Themed kung fu/action films. I have designed many posters myself and have came up with plots. My style of film comes from the Black films of the 70s, and HK kung fu and Japanese action films.

I have an idea for a film now and if i had the $$$ I would make it. I am debating if I want Moon Lee or Cynthia Khan to play the mother of my main star. Well here goes:

Title: THE OATH OF VENGEANCE
Chinese Title: Black Woman China Dragon

Plot: (I still need to work on this part, on how to have a black man in China for a legit reason)

A Black marine stationed in China falls in love with a girl in a small village(either Lee or Khan). The two are married and soon have a daughter named Ying. Before Ying's 2nd birthday, her father is murdered by a fellow marine. The widowed mother and her baby come to the US to start a better life. The young girl is raised on kung fu by her mother, after being bullied by racist kids in the neighborhood. She also befriends a young black boy and the two grow up together and he also learns under her mother.

All grown up, Ying comes home from college and learns that the new bigoted mayor (named Weinstein) wants to tear down the city's Chinese neighborhood to build a new freeway. Weinstein's thugs and heachman (Q.T.) consistently bully Chinese. However her mother learns that Weinstein is the man who KILLED her husband. Ying with her friend, who is a black revolutionary takes on Weinstein.

I know this needs a lot of work, but please leave feedback.

Thank you.

Do you have any experience/education in film?

I hope you'll one day be able to make your dream come true! Good Luck :)

I have none whatsoever. I do plan on learning and I am thinking about film school. I guess I would depend on my imagination and ability to pick up things quick.

Thanks:D

I'm sorry to be a jerk here, but with no experience I'm afraid you won't go far. Filmmaking is a process more complicated than most people realize. I don't have any real experience either, but I've been making short films for about 2½ years now, and I've read a lot about filmmaking so I think I have a clue what it takes to make a movie. I recommend you to start by making some shortflicks with your friends just so you know what it's like to film. Of course the best way to learn is to go to a good film school, but if there aren't any good filmschools around where you live, that might be a problem. Start by checking things like that out.
Also, how old are you?

I don't mean to sound too negative here, I'm just telling you to be realistic! Now go and prove me wrong and make your movies! ;) :D

Once again, good luck! :)

I'm 21. I am looking around and doing research. I am searching the internet to see what schools are out there. Also I will be checking out books on film making from my library. Again, thanks for the realistic advice.
