Sound effects.

Hi,
I'm currently editing a short Martial Arts movie.The problem is that I know nearly nothing about sound and sound editing. I downloaded some sound effects from the internet for the punches and kicks but they all sound pretty dumb. Like STREETFIGHTER or MORTAL KOMBAT.

Anybody can help me on this topic? How do you make your sound effects? Or where can you download good sound effects?

You could try to rip soundeffects from movies!

Virtual Dub is a good software to do such things with!
