It probably would be cheaper to shoot a martial arts film for the field sequential (shutter glass) home video market, than for theatrical distribution or even straight to home video. The Nu-View (and its Korean knock off) can turn almost any video recorder (consumer or pro) into a 3-D video camera for less than $300 US. Plus, it somes with a field sequential viewing system. There is a decent market for field sequential movies. It's still small, but it is growing. Most of the 3-D material available is either travelogues, extreme sports, soft core porn, scenic nature views, or Imax shorts. The few movies that are available are horror movies, all shot using the Nu-View system. Or 3-D conversions of 2-D films, like The Fists Of Fury,The Five Venoms, or Little Shop Of Horrors (1960). I think if someone was shooting an old school martial arts/ swordplay, etc... and couldn't afford to shoot on digibeta or super 16. 3-D field sequential would make a film shot on consumer DV commerically marketable.
