Some really disgusting 37 screencaps including some clips of the deleted footage. Obviously you may not want to click on this at work.

Eeeheehee - this was always one of my favourite bits of this one - this family - I BET they have absolutely no idea what sort of film they'd got themselves into.

I watched it yesterday and it was fantastic! One of Anthony Wong's bizarrest (best) performances ever.

Just watched it for the first time as well and...... it was alright. Not as gory as it was hyped up to be, not a bad thing though. The sickest thing about the whole film is Wong's character. That was one f-ed up mo fo!! Simply revolting in every aspect possible. One un-intentional hilariously bad sequence was at the end of the film when Wong is running around hysterically yelling "EBOLA..... AHHHH......EBOLA!!!" :lol 3/5 imo.

Oh man! What a heartbreaker! I just read a review of the new discotek "uncut" DVD release of EBOLA SYNDROME on fangoria's website (link below) and here's the good news: the company did indeed find the missing, censored footage all us fans have been waiting to see for years! But the BAD news? They didn't integrate it into the rest of the film, and instead only offer it as an extra feature! And get this: the cut footage is also beautifully remastered!
What a WASTE! Ugh, talk about a lost opportunity and a boneheaded move by Discotek>: They won't be getting my money for this DVD. Sigh...
**PS: Sorry for the double post, but in my rage I forgot that there was a "cult" section of the board. Sorry

I'm in the process of editing my own complete composite print -- they won't keep me from my cheap, uncut, category III thrills!

I gotta give it up for them that they remastered the cut footage though and didn't leave it looking like crap. It looks just as good as the main feature. :)

it has nothing to do with Discotek, the company who owns the film would not allow them to put the footage back in. This is very typical of companies in Asia specfically. To be honest, you should be thanking your lucky stars Discotek managed to get the footage. It's not unusual for a company to refuse footage like this to a US company even if they have it sitting around. If you want to see more of these films, and more cut scenes, I'd buy the DVD.

Actually, it *is* pretty unusual for it to be a contractual obligation. Usually, when you license a film or its footage, you can do whatever the hell you want with it -- edit it, rescore it, dub it, etc. While I'm not privy to the details of their negotiations, it *does* sound a bit odd to me.

according to Discotek, and it's not unusual in the least with the HK and Taiwanese companies I've dealt with over the years. For instance, you cannot under any circumstances add footage back in or take footage out of films from Media Asia, Celestial or Fortune Star without their express permission, which I've yet to see them give to anyone. This is one of the reasons it's so hard to get an uncut version of Dragon's Forever. Speaking of, Fortune Star has it as a requirement that you have a HK film "expert" on payroll before they will even agree to deal with you. I know this because I more or less had to send them a resume a year ago when a company I was working with wanted to get some films! :) Hell, Celestial has complete say in everything from cover art and language of the film, to extras allowed on the discs. Overall, the restrictions put on US and UK distributors via Asian companies are like nothing I've ever seen.

You can't with Media Asia? Then how did Harvey Weinstein do it?
In fact, I find the whole thing kind of suspect actually. How are there so many supposed restrictions yet you have people like Harvey Weinstein doing whatever the hell they want and when they want to. If there were the case, you would never have the whole Weinstein altering HK films fiasco that he has done for about a decade or so.
And I'd chalk up the Dragons Forever thing to a lack of knowledge and effort from the people who are releasing the film in the first place.

Harvey had a certain mouse behind him with unlimited pockets. Even now, Harvey's clout gets around a lot of issues companies like Discotek and others cannot. In all honesty, I don't know why I even included Media Asia in the list above, for the most part they're a moot point now anyway.
