Do as I just did, buy the Japanese versions from CD Japan.
The only downside is that they dont have english subs, but 90-95% or even more are in original english audio. And you probably already know the big plot from before if you have watched the international version with your preferred audio/sub setup. Besides, the Jap DVD are much better quality than FUNNY/Thakral...
They were out of Rumble In The Bronx, but I got First Strike, Mr. Nice Guy and Who Am I?...

Already have the 2-Disc-Special-Edition of all three movies :D
The picture suffers from heavy dot crawl and Rumble in the Bronx is cropped from 2.35 to 1.85. Is the image quality of the other releases even inferior?
I'm planning to make a fanedit project "restoring" the HK-Cuts with best quality possible, with optional subs and two audio tracks (original on-set audio and english dub).
That's why I'm looking for several sources to take the best of each release...
The Funny releases are inferior. I have Mr. Nice Guy and it looks almost like a pirated VHS.
For Rumble in the Bronx, your best bet is the old Thakral/China Star release. It's cropped to 2:00 or so, from 2:35
Oh, and I don't believe that full length English versions of those films existed.
Best of luck. One of these days I'll get back to subbing First Strike.

I prefer the Funny DVD of Rumble in the Bronx. It's 2:35, uncut and subtitled. The only drawback is the Mandarin soundtrack. Picture quality is tolerable if you're used to watching bootleg vhs quality. It's not as bad as it sounds.
I read about a Rumble in the Bronx VCD on another forum that seems like it's decent.
First Strike I have a VHS copy only but it's uncut, subtitled and in the correct language I believe. Not sure of the source.

Yeah, I read about the poor quality of the Funny releases.
But since I'm collecting sources for my project I also need these.
For Rumble in the Bronx my first choice is the Thakral/China Star DVD and for Mr Nice guy the Mei Ah DVD.
But the problem: The only DVDs I could get hands on so far were the japanese DVDs.
So please guys, help me out!
The Japanese DVD for Mr. Nice Guy should be better than the Mei Ah. It has the original English sync sound dialogue, and it has an additional scene not present in other versions. Though, the Mei Ah may have the better image. Both soundtracks on it are dubs though.

Are you in the US? I think I have a couple of those Funny releases. I'll try to look later.

does anybody know how the Japanese DVDs from Pioneer differ from the Warner releases? Same master?
I read the Pioneer DVDs came in a CD jewel case and some guy claimed that Rumble in the Bronx had English subs.
