I'd like to start collecting some old Christopher Lee & Peter Cushing stuff. Can anyone recommend an online retailer? Thanks :)

Well, I usually just use DeepDiscount. For starting a Hammer collection, I think this is one of the best deals out there:

www.deepdiscount.com/view...Id=5753165 (http://www.deepdiscount.com/viewproduct.htm?productId=5753165)

Other than Brides of Dracula, these are mostly lesser Hammer titles, but they're all very good movies, and they're all great looking widescreen anamorphic prints. Eight Hammers for that price can't be beat, IMO.

That's a good set right there.

An interesting mix of gothic horror, suspense and adventure.

My least fave was CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF; I liked NIGHT CREATURES, KISS OF THE VAMPIRE and PARANOIC best, IIRC.

I think one of those 'Sherwood Forest' films is due to come out in the UK from DD Video. They made a deal to release at least 13 long sought after Columbia-held Hammer titles.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll pick that one up. One of my favorites is Dr. Terrors House of Horrors btw.

There's a bigass PAL R2 Hammer set as well available in the UK. I'm buying one pretty soon.

That's the entire Studio Canal collection, I think.

Half price, seems like a great bargain for 21 films.

The single movie Hammer titles released by Anchor Bay are out of print, difficult to find, and generally expensive if you can find any. The double feature releases can still be found at Amazon at least:

The Abominable Snowman/Shatter (pricey)
Four Sided Triangle/X The Unknown
Frankenstein Created Woman/The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires
Dracula Prince of Darkness/The Satanic Rites of Dracula
The Lost Continent/The Reptile
The Mummy's Shroud/The Plague of Zombies
The Devil Rides Out/Rasputin the Mad Monk
Prehistoric Women/The Witches
The Vengeance of She/The Viking Queen

Midnite Movies put out Countess Dracula / The Vampire Lovers.

You can also find HORROR OF DRACULA, DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE, TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA, and DRACULA A.D. 1972 on 4 Film Favorites: Draculas (Warner) .

There's also the
Hammer Horror Collection (The Curse of Frankenstein / Dracula Has Risen from the Grave / Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed / Horror of Dracula / The Mummy / Taste the Blood of Dracula).

So there's still a fair bit of Hammer horror floating around R1.

I just caught The Evil of Frankenstein on the tv yesterday, I love the Hammer movies for the same reason I love Shaw movies, they were able to create an atmosphere all to their own, it was only fitting these two studios got together for a couple movies, and the sets! Screw all this cgi, nothing beats the oldschool sets of Hammer and Shaw films!:nerd:

Forgot about the Columbia Hammer titles that have been recently released R1:

Icons of Adventure Collection (The Pirates of Blood River / The Devil-Ship Pirates / The Stranglers of Bombay / The Terror of the Tongs)

Icons of Horror: Hammer Films (2-disc) (The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb / The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll / Scream of Fear / The Gorgon)

Some of Hammer's early Noirs have been released too.

Hammer Film Noir Collector's Set (Bad Blonde / Blackout / The Gambler and the Lady / Heat Wave / Man Bait / Stolen Face)

Hammer Film Noir Collector's Set, Vol. 2 (Terror Street / Wings of Danger / The Glass Tomb / Paid to Kill / The Black Glove / The Deadly Game / The Unholy Four / A Race for Life)

Some Hammer titles that haven't been and still aren't available R1:

Hands of the Ripper
Twins of Evil
Vampire Circus
The Monster

The Monster

Are you referring to the Joan Collins and Ralph Bates horror flick, I DON'T WANT TO BE BORN aka THE MONSTER? If so, it's not a Hammer film. I don't recall them producing a movie with that title. There were a lot of proposed Hammer movies that didn't get made, too.:p

I missed out on that Carlton box set with MONSTER, HANDS OF THE RIPPER and THE UNCANNY. I did get the other one with VAMPIRE CIRCUS, TWINS OF EVIL and COUNTESS DRACULA. Could have done without the third title.:p

I've got those two box sets and I guess I just lumped it in with the Hammer movies. I knew THE UNCANNY wasn't a Hammer movie, but for some reason MONSTER never clicked.

I'm envious.XD I kept putting off the mix box set as I'd seen the movies already but I learned yet again, if you don't get something when you can, it won't be there when you get around to finally picking it up.

I used to love watching the Anthology movies, Amicus picture made the best ones.

btw Dr. Terrors House of Horrors is an Amicus production.
