Here's another Stephen Chow film that I'm going to review for you.
When Fortune Smiles is a 1990 film that stars Stephen Chow, Sandra Ng, Anthony Wong, Shing Fui-On, and many others.
Stephen Chow plays an average nobody named Wan-Sing. He is hired by Shing Fui-On's character to romance an heiress so that he can take possesion of her will.
Sandra Ng plays a woman known as Rubbish Feng who is a garbage collector and only makes small change collecting tin cans. She wishes that she could be rich and beautiful and when Anthony Wong's character tells her that she is to pose as an heiress so that he can take possession of the same will that Shing Fui-On's character wants, she gets her wish.
The typical story of many Stephen Chow films is he plays a sort of lovable tramp like character who is trying to win the heart of a girl who is usually way out of his league. This is most evident here. As with most of Chow's films that I watch, as much as there is humor there is also a sort of touching story behind it. That is what makes this film work and just because I said that doesn't mean it doesn't have you laughing a whole lot.
Overall I'd give this film an 8.0/10.0. It's one of the funnier films of Stephen Chow that I've watched and I hope you will too.
