Zhang Yimou will begin shooting his next film, NANJING HEROES, on January 10. The story involves 13 prostitutes who help compatriots escape Japanese troops during the famous Nanjing Massacre of 1937.

The big news involving the film is that Christian Bale will be in the film. He will be doing this film right before he begins work on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. He will play an American priest in China named John.

There was another movie made about Nanjing Massacre I don't remember the name but I wanted to see it.
I will be looking out for this movie as well.

Here are posters and the movie is in contention for the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Film. The movie's official name is now THE FLOWERS OF WAR. The film co-stars Shawn Dou Xiao, Huang Hai-Bo, Tong Da-Wei, and Qin Hao, and Tenma Shibuya (who played the mean spirited Colonel Sato in IP MAN)

watched last night at the cinema.
great movie indeed
i like most of all Nanking massacre's movies and this one is not an exception.
There are some pretty strong scenes (the rape of two prostitutes), and the movie itself is really touching.
I loved it... i gotta pick up the br or dvd when it comes out.
