Movie is excellent. You'll have to use your brain though when watching the flick. ;)

One of the best independent movies ever made that genuinely excels in every aspect of movie making.A MUST SEE for every film student. It is a bible for new film-makers.Movies like this are not made very often.

Oldboy is a great movie, something extraordinarily different from anything out nowadays. Real twisted stuff with a twist at the end that will twist your freakin brain. One of those movies that when it ends, you sit there through the entire ending credits thinking about what the hell just happened. Then you will think about it for another couple hours. Also, even though not an action movie, Oldboy has one of the greatest, most realistic fight sequences ever put on film; real gritty stuff that was beautifully shot. Highly Recommended!

I loved this film!! After watching it, I immediately went online and purchased a copy and sent it to my little brother. He loved it as well. Id also recommed "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" and "JSA" as well. Not as good as "Old Boy", I cant name many that are.

Excellent movie! Got to be awake and fully alert when viewing so as not to miss very important details. It was just at the CIFF in March. I purchased it right away. Best thing I've seen in a long time. Very raw and great storytelling. Rate 5/5 in my opinion.

Just watched this, brilliant filmmaking. It's raw, visceral stuff with a twisted ending that has you cringing. Better than anything from the studios I've seen so far.

I can't wait for the inevitable Hollywood remake with John Travolta in the main role. brrr.....

Oldboy was in fact a studio film, a big studio film, like all of Park Chan-Wooks movies. There was nothing independent about it.

As for the remake, Justin Linn is making it, and it will be terrible. This movie survives on the fact that it is surreal and visceral, something that a Hollywood film will never do. I mean, will Nicolas Cage be able to beat Choi Min-Siks hallway fight scene. Would any Hollywood actor for that matter. Besides maybe Steven Seagal.

Yep,

the idea of lame Nic Cage doing his half baked Elvis impression makes me ill. No doubt the more extreme aspects of the film will be excised because studio bigwigs think the U.S audience won't be able to handle it.

How does Justin Lin get to handle a project like this? I'd want someone with a little more to their resume.

im pessimistic about the remake...especially so soon after the original comes out....however, after watching Justin Lin's "Better Luck Tomorrow" I dont think itll be so bad....it wont hold weight to the original, but itll be ok i think...I think Justin Lin is an excellent director...however, this opinion is based soley on the one Justin Lin movie ive seen...which is Better Luck Tomorrow. BLT is an EXCELLENT film btw.

I bought Oldboy on dvd after hearing so many good things about it. After watching it I was slightly disappointed as the film's ending did not shock or surprise me like I thought it would. Just seeing the clip with the main villain not trying hard enough to hold on to his sister made it look like he was responsible! That made it really hard for me to feel for the main villain, it's almost as if he was just looking for someone to blame so he chose the person responsible for starting the rumours. I'm just saying how I felt after watching the film, I thought I would enjoy it but I didn't. Seeking some sort of vengeance on someone starting rumours was alittle bit over the top for me and the face to face ending was not really necessary.
