Well i would like to buy a zombie/demon... flicks to start a collection. But i don' know what to buy...i was considering Zombie (Zombie 2 in Europe) cause i heard its one of the greats. I like lots of violence, blood... And i don't have seen many horror flicks cause i'm only 18! My favorite series is Friday the 13th for sure so what should i get?
Any suggestions?
I might go on to get Lucio Fulcio (am i right in the spelling?)Zombie.
Thanks

by all means get ZOMBIE it's a great flick. here's a few more picks that meat your criteria

ZOMBIE 3

ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST

CITY OF THE WALKING DEAD

NIGHTMARE CITY

DEMONS 1&2

THE CHURCH

HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB

TOMB OF THE BLIND DEAD/RETURN OF THE BLIND DEAD (both on 1 dvd)

try some of these and i guarentee you won't ever bother with a friday the 13th film again. by the way if you have seen DAWN OF THE DEAD or DAY OF THE DEAD (american movies) then do so.

All of those are cool (although I'll admit I didn't like Zombie 3 or Zombie 4 much, but that's just me... they're still worth checking out)... Zombie is a *definite* must-get, a cornerstone of any zombie flick collection and one of Fulci's best... just for the big wooden splinter scene, if nothing else! :) Here's some others:

Burial Ground (The Nights of Terror) - nonstop zombie attacks for pretty much the whole movie!

Hell of the Living Dead (aka Night of the Zombies) - pretty cheap and badly dubbed and padded with nature footage, but has plenty of zombie gore... it's great if you don't mind a movie being just a little on the dumb side. :)

The Beyond (aka Seven Doors of Death) - Lucio Fulci masterpiece, with eye-gouging, gut-munching, chain-whipping, acid-dissolving walking dead sickness in graphic detail. Go for the The Beyond title - some of the Seven Doors of Death versions have some of the gore cut out.

House by the Cemetery - another gory Fulci flick... it's not pure zombie (there's just one) but it's good.

Zeder - not much gore, but loads of atmosphere and style... classic stuff.

Plague of the Zombies - a Hammer film, not much gore-wise but an excellent, creepy movie

For demonic-possession sickness, be sure to check out The Antichrist... that one's really sick and twisted.

Pseudo-zombie flick: Cannibal Apocalypse. Ex-soldiers come down with a virus that makes them crave human flesh...

i don't know why ZOMBIE 3 seems to get such bad press. i found it very entertaining and it is kind of a prequel to ZOMBIE. sure it's kind of dumb in places but aren't they all. haven't seen ZOMBIE 4 yet what didn't you like about that one?

Hey thanks a lot guys!

I will have a hard time to choose between Zombie and The Beyond. They both looks great! But i guess it would be better to start off with getting Zombie!?

tough choice.

ZOMBIE has the aforementioned splinter in the eye scene this will make you flinch. you also get a zombie fighting a shark underwater. of course you also get plenty of people shoting the zombies etc. oh and cn't forget the rising from the grave part very well done.

THE BEYOND the zombies only show up at the end and honestly don't do much but.... you get the infamous tarantulas eating a guys face off (has to be see to be believed) and the acid disinigration scene (another great gore moment). this movie is weird.

either way you can't lose

I dunno, Zombie3 and 4 didn't have enough "creepiness" for me... the zombies moved too quickly and in some cases were even using guns. It kind of took away anything that made them zombies, and it just kind of became another cheap cops-and-robbers type movie to me, just a lot of shooting. Plus the direction didn't have much atmosphere, and the photography looked too much like a Full Moon or Troma movie to me, a lot of unrealistic stylized lighting... something in the film style just didn't work for me (I'm picky... I don't like many horror movies that came out since about 1980, just because of the psuedo-video "look" of them... even classics like Reanimator, I've never really warmed up to, so I'm kinda weird that way). And the special effects were too "latexy" and occasionally got ridiculous (like the head that flies out and bites the guy in Zombie 3). I didn't hate either movie, really, but they just didn't give me what I look for in a zombie flick. But that doesn't mean they're not worth checking out... neither is one I'd warn anybody off of or anything.

Between Zombie and Beyond and what'll work best for a party, I'd say go with Zombie. That splinter scene is a show-stopper and it's hard to top! :) It's the first Fulci film I saw, and the one that got him the most worldwide attention. But either one would be a good choice. Heck, do both! :)

Return Of The living Dead is good, too.

Nice and funny and plenty of gore.

The Burning (If you can get the Uncut vers.), rosemary's Killer (aka The Prowler) and Dawn Of The Dead (1978) of course.

Anything w/ Tom Savini doing the mufx is great!

'Last Man on Earth' (1968) aka 'L' Ultimo uomo della terra' is one of the scariest zombie flick I've ever seen as a kid. I think it may be in public domain too so you can get it cheap. Every zombie fan should include this one in your collection!

Otherwise if this flick is too old for you guys, gear up for Asia Argento, John Legiuzamo, Simon Baker & Dennis Hopper in George Romero's 'Land of the Dead' overdue for this summer!

Nobody even mentioned LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE. Definitely one of the creepiest zombie flicks ever, beautiful location photography in England, a great spooky soundtrack, an original story and gore effects by the master Giannetto De Rossi who is still going having created the extreme gore effects in HIGH TENSION.

Zombie is probably the best flick to start your horror/zombie collection! Get one of the newer editions though, avoid the old one from Anchor Bay.
Then going on with Fulci you'll want The Beyond, City of the Living Dead and House by the Cemetary.
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie is great though not so often gory.
Peter Jackson's Bad Taste and Braindead will be two great friends to you!
Then you have the George A. Romero trilogy...Night, Dawn and Day of the Dead. So good i wanna cry!
If the Italian style appeals to you, you must absolutely get the Dario Argento gems...Suspiria, Deep Red, Tenebre, Phenomena, Inferno.
Don't forget the classic Demons too!
