Ack! What is this?!?
I didn't realize this was going to be such a problem. Just ditch the extra forums entirely if it's just going to be "general film"... what a fuxterpated mess this is going to be. Somebody's going to want to talk about Sixteen Candles and right next to it somebody else will be discussing the merits of Cannibal Holocaust as compared to Make Them Die Slowly, while another guy's going to want to know if Superfly is a better movie than Truck Turner and why, while somebody else is trying to sell their 16 mm prints of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome... it'll be one big glorious flustercluck! Don'tcha think this is *overly* streamlined now? Maybe there coulda been an "Eurasian Horror" combo-section, or "War and Westerns" or something would work, I dunno, but... "general film"? Does this cover the stuff I get on my teeth, too?
Today I'd like to discuss Rashomon, Passolini's Salo as compared to Bergman's Wild Strawberries, Die Hard 2, the Bowery Boys series as a socialist polemic, and the symbollic use of color in the director's cut of Rainbow Brite And The Star Stealer! :P
And who picked out this background wallpaper... Charlotte Perkins Gilman?!? (if you don't get that reference, go read http://www.cwrl.utexas.edu/~daniel/amlit/wallpaper/wallpapertext.html immediately... you'll be glad you did, it's a classic) Looks like somebody puked up an antique doilly... see, just there, where the pattern hangs like a broken neck...
Sorry, guys, I love ya, love the site, I applaud all your hard work and thank you for it, I'm not meaning to break horns (or am at least trying to do so in what I hope is an amusing manner) but... who's gonna tell you the truth but your friends? This is a baaaaaaaad idea right here... me no like. As much as I loved the horror and Western and war and gangster forums, I'd rather only have the plain ol' kung-fu-only option than "general film."
Personally, I don't see what the harm was in having "too many" forums, anyway. They weren't heavy-traffic, but they were only about a week or two old, and I liked 'em! Let the control-freaks who were being all uptight about the existence of forums that didn't interest them personally just deal with it... it'd be a good learning experience for the whiny little brats. ;)
