Wow, this thread is wild. It goes from a death announcement to guys threatening each other over cyberspace. I don't know any of you guys, I don't know your trade history, etc so I'm not trying to get in the middle of any bad blood you have for each other, BUT as an impartial observer, may I make a few observations that may give you some perspective?

Lotus' original post was on 6/7, two weeks after that terrible incident happened. Ozzie waited a full month to ask again about the trade (that's a month from Lotus' post, it was a month and a half after the date of the incident). Honestly, I would think thats enough time. Ozzie didn't hear anything for a month after Lotus' post, so he inquired. I read Ozzie's post, and it wasn't really rude or obnoxious. The problem seems to be that it wasn't "the time or the place" to post his inquiry. Can someone let me know what the official ruling is on exactly how long you should wait before inquiring about an incomplete trade? It kind of seems like people jumped on Ozzie's case about something that had nothing to do with them, and his defensive responses are understandable considering that.
Hermit, I am a casual reader of the board, and Ozzie didn't seem like an arsehole to me for asking about the trade. 1 month seems like a reasonable and respectful amout of time to wait. You may disagree, but that doesn't seem like a good reason to just ATTACK the guy and imply he is an arsehole. Same goes for the other guys who jumped on him.
As I said, I don't know any of you, and I'm NOT attacking any of you, just wanted to perhaps show you a different perspective on a situation that has clearly escalated out of control. Come on guys, its a kung fu board. Chill out.

That sure sounds like attacking language to me Hermit. As I said, I don't know you, I don't know Ozzie, and I don't know Johnnydragon, but as an outsider, I will tell you you are looking REALLY bad in this. I have noticed (as have many others) that there are a few people on these boards who post very frequently, and because of that feel they somehow control the boards. No one is allowed to have a different opinion from them without being attacked. Its like the thought police are watching everyone else, ready to pounce on them if they don't say exactly what the thought police want to hear. Damn Todd you are the man. You are right about all this totally getting out of hand. And I only reacted to some points because I felt personally attacked. It wasnt even their comments about me asking for my movies on Lotus' thread. It was more about the accusations and mindless attacks regading my trade history. People escalate things out of control here. If a trade has some problem and you try and resolve it, they crucify you and make you wrong. They interfere without knowing all the facts or make up rules as they go.

Had Hermit asked me politely to remove the thread I would have but instead he took these ridiculous shots at me and they were followed by a few other "Thought Police". First off you are not the end all here to dictate what can and cannot be said. Even Lotus adds mention that his trades will be late in the post. Even the Mods did not remove my post because there was really nothing wrong with it. As Todd pointed out, I did not disrespect anyone. I understand your passion about his loss, but had you ONLY JUST asked me politely, I would have removed the post and that would have been that. I had no problem with your request and you should have had no problem if I didnt. Its my perogative to post it and yours to object. Same goes for Johhny's initial comments. Its when you both went on your rants that you crossed the line.

i suggest you delete your comments from this thread as it makes you look like an arsehole to any casual reader of the board and i'm sure you don't want that right?

must also add ozzie you should try to be less abrasive when going about your business more than a few traders have felt slighted by your style of asking for thing in trades(me included) and your habit of sending back disks is in bad taste.

Why did you have to go there? You make assumptions regading my trades with others which is totally unfair since there is no way you can know the particulars of these trades. I found your accusations incredibly insulting and humiliating. Other 'casual readers' see this stuff and are easily influenced. It gives them doubt and they pause as to whether they want to deal with someone who is 'abrasive' and 'dishonorable'. If I send back a disc its to prove to the trader that IT WAS DEFECTIVE. I dont play mindless games here. You have caused irreperable damage here and in my opinion disgraced yourself and Lotus' thread. But then again its my opinion and ITS JUST A THREAD. Also, I meant what I said about you JohhnyDragon....I mean the nicer things. You have been a great guy to trade with and I feel badly you think I have taken advantage of you in our previous trades. For those of you that dont know, Johnny at times sends free covers and originals for bare minimum. I will send you my list Johhny and LMK what you'd like - ON THE HOUSE. I value our past trades even if I cant understand half the things you write.

This started because, I thought I could talk to Ozzy. like I

and so on. I wasn't expecting the reply I got!

and because of the hurricane in New Orleans a trader got
his whole life's work Destroyed house, car, and after all
that was volunteering his construction skills to rebuild the state of L.A his town had no post office! but were putting up a tent. had no computer, his house was flooded.
A post was started 6 weeks after giving their condolences. Some people even started to ask for movies!! It is like there is NO Compassion!!! All they want is their movies! This hurts me! This happened to one of the names above, a great guy! Isn't life and friendship more important than even 10 DVD R's?? So what I was trying to do, believe it or not, is squash this before it escalated! But them let my personal and family tragedy's and poor health pour out.. As for not being able to understand my typing, I am a grandfather and when I am mad I get my two typing fingers going as fast as I can!!! And they don't catch up to the thoughts in my head! Back in my day in school, we didn't take typing and there were no computers yet. Sorry to the White Lotus, will remove all posts upon request! I feel kinda bad because this "war" seems to have started because of a single post I put up last week. Thank goodness it seems to be under control now & we can all be friends again.

HOWEVER, no-one ever was able to answer my original question. IS LOTUS ALRIGHT & HAS ANYONE HEARD FROM HIM? My main concern is his well-being, but I can't lie & say that I'm not getting a bit aggravated about my situation with him.

Since it seems to be a touchy subject, how about we establish ground-rules as to when it's OK to question someone about a trade.

As far as I know, 3 separate people sent Lotus discs (at least 3, me included), and he never sent theirs.. Multiple e-mails were sent to him & he never responded & still has not responded.

Personally, 3 simultaneous trades seems like alot. I try to limit myself to 2, since I don't want to get behind in case of outside forces affecting my ability to complete trades I started.

In my case, we had agreed to send our discs on May 17, and it was a full week later that his peronal problems took place. That was wrong right there. I sent mine, and he didn't send his. As for what happened with the other traders, I don't know.

All I can see is that Ozzieny has always traded straight with me in the past, and I can't see any fault in his complaining about not receiving discs when he sent his.

I feel for Lotus. I really do. When tragedy strikes, take time to work it out. Don't worry about trades. BUT... We operate on the honor system on this site, and it simply seems dishonorable to refuse to respond to e-mails from other traders who DID fulfill their promises.

His friend's cousin was killed 6 weeks ago. It's a terrible thing that can rattle a person to the core. I'm sure that kung fu flix is simply not that important to him right now. I agree. It's JUST A HOBBY (regardless how seriously some people take it). REAL LIFE takes precedence over this free-time activity. But I'm also sure that he's still living his life. Being a husband & father. Going to work every day & paying his bills. All I ask is that he respond to an e-mail & say, "sorry, life's tough right now, I'll send them when I can".

I really don't care much about the movies he didn't send, I've already got about half of them from other trades now. It's just that we're all "friends" on this site (for the most part), and we OWE each other as much as a returned e-mail. Regardless, I wish him the best, and I trust he'll be back someday.

FINALLY, this fighting, and name-calling, and threatening, and 45 minutes to compose a post crap has GOT TO STOP! I don't know about you all, but I watch and trade Kung Fu movies FOR FRIGGING FUN!!! Once people get all mad and this crap starts, it just ain't fun anymore. Kung Fu movies and everything that surrounds the hobby just isn't important enough to let it get you THAT UPSET. I'm here to make frineds and have fun!
