I'm just putting this post up to make sure that this move doesn't slip past any horror fans, because this is one of those must-get movies. I've been waiting 3 years for this to hit DVD (there have been rumors about it's release forever) and I just got it yesterday, and it was worth the wait.

I'm amazed this thing stayed obscure for so long, because I'd rank it up there next to Suspiria. It's a little slow and you have to pay attention (it's a thinking-person's horror movie, so eliminate all distractions... don't even bother with popcorn the first time you view it) but the payoff is heavy-hitting. Make sure you watch it sometime when you can see it all in one sitting, because the way this one works is, it builds in mood until you get this really horrific, nightmarish cumulative effect.
I got Below and Fulci's ultra-gory crime drama Contraband in the same shipment, and I don't know whether I want to watch one of those tonight... or watch House With The Laughing Windows again.
I don't want to tell you much about it (don't spoil it by reading up on it too much) but I wanted to make sure nobody missed out on this one just because they'd never heard of it or something. Anybody who likes giallo films like Deep Red shouldn't miss this one.
