I think 'Dragon Fight' was a 1989 GH film. The logo is at the start of the DVD I have.

Warner released it on a dubbed only VCD which could be possible evidence that this was one of the approx 100 films they bought from GH and refuse to co-operate with other distrabutors.

Grand March is listed as the production company for Dragon Fight. Was it originally released by Golden Harvest though or only later on VCD? Hmm... Anyone got an original poster?

Doesn't mean you're wrong... but I won't add it until we're fairly certain that GH was the original distributor. Thanks, anyways. :)

I was checking the Golden Harvest website (didn't even know there was one) and was on the verge of giving up when I came across a "production list". Most of the films from my list were there, but not all, so it's not definitive as I had hoped. However, I did find a slew of titles not on my list and have been able to find out very little about them. If anyone can help with these titles, specifically confirming them as Golden Harvest productions/releases then I would be grateful.

THE LAST DUEL (70, TWDB lists 71) aka GALLANT DUO Stars: Wang Yu
GIRL OF THE NIGHT (73, HKMDB lists 72) Dir: Ting Shan Hsi
STORY OF DAISY (73, HKMDB lists 72) Stars: Nora Miao, Ko Chun Hsiung.
NAUGHTIER THAN THREE (76) Stars: Sam Hui
CONFESSION OF A CONCUBINE (77)
RAINBOW IN MY HEART (78, HKMDB lists 77) Stars: Kenny Bee
GALLERY OF FOOLS (80)
THE BREAKTHROUGH (80, HKMDB lists 83) aka BREAKING THROUGH THE BLACK WHIRL Dir: Ulysses Au [CONFIRMED]
SWEET VENGEANCE (81)
LOST GENERATION (82, HKMDB lists 83) Stars: Ko Chun Hsiung, Sibelle Hu
BIG MOUTH C.I.D (83)
THE DISCIPLES OF SHAOLIN (83, HKFA lists 85) Dir: Hua Shan
MISS HONG KONG (87) aka PRIVATE LIFE Stars: Joey Wong, Alan Tang [CONFIRMED]
BREADLINE BLUES (87)
PROMISING YOUNG BOY (87)
TOKYO DOLL (88)
FEMME FATALE (88, TWDB lists 86)

THE BREAKTHROUGH (80, HKMDB lists 83) aka BREAKING THROUGH THE BLACK WHIRL Dir: Ulysses Au

Confirmed this one as a Golden Harvest release via VHS sleeve. (C) 1980 Paragon Films Ltd.
The Chinese title on the sleeve is different than the one listed at the HKMDB.

I have a question for Markgway, regarding the films you have listed for 1971 by order of release:

1971
The Invincible Eight
Zatoichi and the One-Armed Swordsman
The Blade Spares None
The Angry River
The Fast Sword
The Comet Strikes
The Chase
The Big Boss
The Invincible Sword

Were these produced in this order? I've always read that ANGRY RIVER was made before THE INVINCIBLE EIGHT and THUNDERBOLT was made somewhere around that time, too. I guess I want to clarify the order in which Angela Mao made her first three or four films. Can you help in this matter? IMDB lists these films in a different order, but I'm not prepared to accept their info as gospel.

Thanks.

No, the order of release and order of production are never the same. For a variety of reasons distributors chop and change the order of titles. I believe THE ANGRY RIVER was the first GH film to go into production. THE INVINCIBLE EIGHT was the first was the first to hit cinemas.

1971
The Invincible Eight - Jan 22
Zatoichi and the One-Armed Swordsman - Feb 5
The Blade Spares None - April 30
The Angry River - May 12
The Fast Sword - July 28
The Comet Strikes - Aug 11
The Chase - Oct 7
The Big Boss - Oct 31
The Invincible Sword - Oct 14 (looks like this one should be before The Big Boss - oops!)

It's worth mentioning that some of the early GH releases weren't actually GH productions. They were merely indie films that GH had bought to distribute.

Thanks a lot for that list. I cannot find a release list on the GH site though. And the wikipedia list is a bit confusing at least.

For me GH is the number one film studio in HK.
So many classic movies.
Does anyone have a list of movies distributed by GH like The Big Boss and others?
