This guy:

What's up with his eyes??
He plays it comedically in every film he's in - Shaolin Prince, The Victim, Master Strikes Back and on and on...
Was this a genuine affliction (he certainly hams it up as is) or a continuous character gimmick?
He seems to have full control over whapping his pupils crazily from one side to the other in a comical fashion (or perhaps not?)...

No one got any thoughts?...
Ok, well, i take Ma Chou... and i raise you one...
To Siu Ming :

This guy - from Treasure Hunters, Encounters Of The Spooky Kind, Fake Ghost Catchers and on and on...
Now, was one of these guys apeing the other's affliction or style - or were they perhaps both unfortunate enough to suffer from the same ailment...
As the epitomy of the cross-eyed buffoon characters, competition for roles between these two must have been fierce, tooth and claw shenanigans...
********(fill in the blank - Golden Harvest/Shaw/Independent, producer) "we need one cross-eyed buffoon for the role of..."
"Damn you Ma Chou - this one's mine, if only i could make out the dotted line easy enough to sign before he gets here"
enter Ma Chou, sent by agent...
"To Siu Ming, is that you, you blurry bastard! Treasure Hunters should have been my role..."
cue much off target air punching shenanigans...
(sorry, being stupid - a bit bored today...)

You know peringaten, it seems old school Kung Fu films always had characters like these in them for comic relief. I wonder if it ever bothered them or if they felt degraded having to play such buffoons and simpletons? Then again, they may have just been happy to be working! 8)

Yeah - it's just these two guys seemingly did that with their eyes in every film they were in - seriously that's got to hurt the eyes doing that all the time, unless they were just unfortunate enough to have that as a natural occurance, lol...
I mean even Dean Shek's much imitated and stereotyped role patterns were broken by the man himself as he tried a few other more varied character types...
So far as i've seen these two did nothing but cross-eyed?...

Yeah I know what you mean. I don't know for sure but I believe those two guys your talking about really were cross-eyed because they were always like that every time you would see them.
I wonder if it ever bothered them or if they felt degraded having to play such buffoons and simpletons?
I really doubt it, they were probably making way more money than the average worker at the time, plus they got to hang out with all the cool actors and hot actresses!
Though not cross-eyed, I always thought Lee Wan-chung had a very peculiar look to him, especially as Smiling Tiger in Come Drink with Me.

I read a while back that the reason you never saw them both in the same film was because they never saw eye-to-eye...
I wholeheartedly apologise for the horrendous pun... 0] :p

HK movies are full of actors with odd looks ranging from Tsai Hung's oversized teeth to Fung Fung's paralysed mouth. And don't forget Crippled Masters...

Yep Fung Fung's certainly an odd looking fella... and i believe some fans affectionately refer to Tsui Hung as 'Moose Face'...
Crippled Masters - watched that for the first time this weekend... woah, now there's a strange piece, somewhat awed by it...
Chui Hoi Lun, the weird faced woman from the Brave Archer movies - i find her to be kind of funky looking, wonder if she's a trained martial artist?...
And can't forget Tam Tin Nam, the big faced guy from Twinkle Twinkle Little Star - now he's really funky looking!
All these somewhat unsung, interesting looking people...
Lets not forget Fung Fung - This has turned into the crazy looking people of Kung Fu thread:b -

From memory, Fung Fung dammaged his face whilst working out with weights. Still nowhere as terrifying as his son!

Did we ever establish whether it was the work out that did that to old Fung Fung? Just watching The Trail, got me to thinking. Seriously, that's one messed up work out if it took his face out like that.
