make it easier for people to be d*cks on message boards? I was checking out the Fight Girls message board and people on there are haters and vicious. You can't expess your opinion without being hated. Unlike this board where most of the time people listen to your opinion, offer bits of interesting information and good discussion.

Wasted time I've spent reading generic YouTube comments in the past seems to strongly support such hypothesis.

You may think you're anonymous, but you're not. If you really piss of the wrong person, someone who knows their way around the internet, computers, and all that, they can find out who you are and really cause you problems. So, if people are acting like dickheads to you, then just ignore them. Because one day, they'll mess with the wrong person, and next thing they know, they're trying to shake off an internet stalker. I've seen it happen.

Interesting point kungfusamurai. Well, I guess for these morons it's just a wait and see. Thanks for your observations fellows.

Don't sweat it. Besides, what really matters is how you interact with people you deal with on a personal level. By that, I mean, physically or even over the phone. I find sometimes people can be rude in emails, but in person they are so polite, so just think of it as putting on an act. That's kind of one reason why I don't believe in hanging out with people I meet on message boards. It sounds kind of snobby, but you never know what could happen if you have a falling out...

Read sherdog.net and look at their off topic forum. Some of those guys are just total assess.

Most internet assholes get their jollies being so on the internet because, and this is my personal opinion, they can't do so in real life. It's easier for them to be a dick on the internet when their just a p***y in real life.

Just a thought

Youtube is full of Ric Meyers wannabes. The only comments worth reading are when someone asks for a song ID in a clip, and someone else gives the name. Beyond that, it's all a waste of bandwidth.

See, that's the problem with the internet. Now all the loonies get on board, hiding behind screen names and all that, but in the end, if you mess with them, they might just show up at your house. I was lucky enough to get out of the flamewar mentality years ago before digging up info on people on the internet became even easier like it is today. Heck, I even it called someone out once because they kept pretending to be such and such a person and causing problems in message boards. When I found out their real life ID and even workplace (they posted from an IP address at a place of business), I just created a fake account with a bastardization of the person's name, wrote some stuff about how much I liked such and such topic relating to the board, and even made references to the person's place of work, always being slightly vague, but calling out the person in an indirect manner. That person who was causing problems for that board never posted again. I think that was the only time I'd ever outed a troll, and it was easier then because you could use anonymous servers. I'm older now and stay away from that kind of vigilante justice.

very cool kungfusamurai but unfortunately some people never grow up and they can't let their pettiness go. it sucks. i post on other boards and like i mentioned before some people just have to crap on whatever you say no matter what. and like you, i used to retalliate but now i just move on. it's not worth it, they're only words.
