Looks like an interesting new series coming to the History channel. Two fighters travel to various parts of the world to study thier various forms of martial arts. The previews for "Human Weapon" (http://www.history.com/minisite.do?content_type=mini_home&mini_id=54986) looked pretty good. Debuts tonite (7/20) @ 10/9c.

The Ultimate search of a Human Weapon, Each episode of HUMAN WEAPON charts an expedition through foreign continents, famous cities, exotic villages, back alleys and lush landscapes with hosts Jason Chambers – mixed-martial-artist and professional fighter – and Bill Duff – former professional football player and wrestler, who will learn how each individual location gave birth to its distinct form of combat and will study their form of martial art.
Jason Chambers and Bill Duff will put their bodies through extreme exercises and challenges to prepare for a battle against a professional fighting master in the arts of MAUY THAI, KARATE, JUDO, ESKRIMA Stick-fighting, SAVATE Street-fighting, KUNG FU and much more.

I watched the Muay Thai episode today. It's interesting. It's also interesting how the two hosts learn what they can about the martial art and one of them actually tries it out on a Muay Thai champ. I think I will be tuning in some more.

I thought it was interesting as well. Interesting stuff about Thailand and Muay Thai. Althought those two lead "actors" are kinda duds imo. Neither one of them seem to have much charisma. Ill keep watching, maybe they'll grow on me.

i saw the muay thai episode as well and enjoyed it. i got a kick out of when they went to the shots that were to look scientific and repeatedly displayed the same formula.

It was a little corny but I'll tune in to the future eps.

I liked everything except some of the hollow "reality" stuff. Like, the big guy pretending to be upset he wasnt picked to fight (common sense surely told them from day one that, pro fighter vs amateur or not, the little Thai guy wouldnt get into it with a lug twice his size). The whole business about gathering the techniques was just a storyline to hinge the travelogue on (again, common sense tells you stuff like that lame double uppercut isn't really applicable to a realistic fight but they pretended it would be).

I've seen Jason Chambers fight a few times. He's sort of a B or (to be honest) C level MMA guy, not really a top talent, never will be, but he has the camera charisma for the show.

Hopefully, they'll refine the show as they go along. It's not a bad show although the two hosts seems a little awkward.

Philipino arts ep. was very good stuff. One thing I noticed was the lack of knife coverage. They do single and double sticks. Single knife, and knife and stick.

So far, I've found that once the hosts get involved, it comes to a grinding halt. I have zero interest in seeing them do anything. If they narrated and more or less got out of the way, it would have been beautiful. Karate next Fri.

Side note. The Vick dog fighting thing is an interesting coincidence to the escrima ep. Different cultures do different things and those things are looked at differently. Bull fighting, @#%$ fighting, cricket fighting, dog fighting. It's all the same but none of it is excepted here. Of course dog and @#%$ fighting is very strong here in the states and that as noting to do w/Vick. Philly, NY, the south, Cali and Fla. all have strong ties to dog and @#%$ fighting. I guess Vick is the adopted face for it as Bonds is the face for steriods and gh while Clemens runs around "scott free". Side note over.
