Hmm...I looked online a bit and couldn't find anything. Are you sure it was based on a real-life person? I was never clear whether that character was fictional or based on someone real.

Yes, I wondered that too. Given that indie companies could handle the character makes me suspect he was real, or could be sourced from a novel?

The first movie on Ma Yeung Chen dates back from...1927 and the titular character was a real live historical figure.
