She's a Muay Thai fighter. Just watched her again on Showtime's Elite Xtreme Combat. She's pretty and tough. Excellent bout on Showtime. Check out her myspace page:

I did'nt watch the showtime Elite but I have seen her on tv. She is a good fighter and looks pretty good too. She might end up in UFC one day if Dana White ever changes his mind about female fighters.

Gina is starring in Steven Sodenbergh's HAYWIRE in her first lead role. She stars as an operative who seeks revenge after she is betrayed during a mission. The film also stars Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum, Michael Angarano, Anthony Wong (NOT the HK star, but the Anthony who was in the MATRIX sequels), and Michael Fassbender.
UNDISPUTED II's fight choreographer J.J. Perry and 87Eleven's Joanthan Eusebio are the fight choreographers of the film.
Here's some on-set pics of Gina beating up Ewan McGregor, courtesy of Zimbio (http://www.zimbio.com/photos/Gina+Carano/Ewan+McGregor+on+the+Beach/ZzcxnW-dU-G)

That wet suit and hair style are not flattering on her.
Didn't she have a fight bit in Michael Jai White's Blood And Bone?

I'm going to see her fight in June in Dallas...if the UFC takeover of Strikeforce doesn't cancel the card that is.
Also, someone needs to call the authorities, because there's a beached whale in those photos.

It almost looks like they were filming a scene where a guy is out for a morning jog on the beach and some assassin chick crammed in a wet suit with her hair twisted too tight comes out of the waves and just starts whaling.......oops, I mean waling.....on him.

Why does she look thicker than normal in those pics? Shes usually very fit and toned looking. Oh well, I heard about this around the time Blood & Bone came out. I hope it turns out okay.

She eats more and exercises less between fights.
Are you down with the thickness?

Lol, I like thickness, but in a fit kinda way and as for Carano I like when she looks like this:

Going from number 1 to number 2 can't be muscle weight. I'm no fitness expert but judging from the first picture, Gina looks pretty low on body fat, but I can't say the same for the second. I wouldn't say she's fat, but shes not in fighting shape.

Saw that same photo in "Entertainment Weekly" that arrived yesterday. Thanks for sticking it in the thread. Soderbergh says he was essentially inspired to do a movie around her after watching her fight in a bout. With the other big name (well, you know what I mean) stars attached (Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender) I'm assuming this will get a theatrical release.

In one of the film's best scenes, Michael Fassbender and Carano destroy a hotel suite to the tune of the audience bursting out in applause at the fight's completion.

SD, I would take it with a pinch of salt! After seeing the trailer I agree the movie looks like it's going to be very good but come on applause worthy, not a chance. I mean seriously did you applaud when you watched Ong Bak for the first time? I was gobsmacked, kept on saying Wow, completely amazed but I certainly didn't applaud the screen. well why would you? It's not like anyone can hear your applause .

I get what you're saying but your post confesses to the fact that it did garner some sort of physical response. No one heard you saying wow either. It's no different than punching your fist in the air in excitement. (And the first time I watched it I was doing both.)
Still, the thought that people were applauding a fight scene seems a bit farfetched. It better be a doozie.

by the way I'm not arguing with you…I think that is part of my point that the action in Ong Bak was that spectacular that most of us martial arts fans who are accustomed to cracking fights and breathtaking stunts, were blown away. Physical responses like saying wow, punching fists in the air seem more natural than an audience applauding an action scene mid movie. I could understand the end of the movie but then it would be for the movie as a whole not an action scene. I wonder if it was staged, assuming it happened, for the benefit of the critics? by the way I assume that's not a cultural difference between the UK and US and cinemagoers in America don't applaud after every good action sequence?

And, no. I've never known them to. The response of most US cinema-goers is to chat incessantly throughout the entire feature.:tinysmile_angry2_t:

I like Gina Carano myself, and it's refreshing to see other women in fighting that act feminine. She's a beautiful young woman who fights well and I wish I looked like her to be honest. It always scares me when I see girls in MMA that look masculine and act like a guy, usually a black rapper type for some reason with the chains, the tattoos, the swagger, and the mouth to match....
For those that don't know, Gina's last opponent in MMA whom she lost to, Cris Cyborg Santos, was found guilty of steroid use and has been punished as a result and stripped of her title. My personal opinion is that she was using longer than her last few fights and I always suspected steroid use when she fought Carano.
I'd like to see Gina stay with films. There's more money in it and she doesn't need to put herself at risk for a few bucks. She'll earn more and I believe she'd make a wonderful role model for young girls and encourage them to join the martial arts in much the same way that Cynthia Rothrock, Michelle Yeoh, and Kara Hui have done. With the right project and script, I think she could do very well and I wish her the best of success in her future.
