I just found out last night that my GF has Colon Cancer, she was hospitalize since last Wednesday, it is in the advance stage & have spread to her liver, right now I am a complete mess - mentally & emotionally. She is one of the sweetest person you could meet. Why do this happens to the nice ones? She will need all the help, support & encouragement possible & I will be there to give it. Right now I just keep asking myself why her? Why? I will find out more of the details tonight & what treatments are in store for her.
You never think that much about something, until it hits home.

I lost a loved one recently, so your words esp. hit home. I hope you are getting support for yourself too as you support her. What matters most is always the love that endures. You're both in my thoughts and prayers.

Hope you can keep a positive mindset while you/she is dealing with this. You can be available to listen, give your time and stay in the moment. If you are close, she needs you now. Pay attention to keeping your own health by trying to get enough rest, water, etc. Wishing you then best.

That's some shitty news, man. All my best wishes go out to you.
I lost a dear friend of mine to cancer a little over a year ago. A great girl who had everything: great family, great personality, nice looking, got her own dentist-practice; just the sweetest girl in the world. And then she got cancer in the brain and died...
It's sad, but the older you get, the more people you seem to lose, and especially cancer seems to be the big big enemy. I'm scared to death for ever losing my own girlfriend, let alone to a disease like cancer. I doubt I could cope with it.
Anyway, I wish you all the best in these hard times. I really hope they've discovered it in time and it can still be cured.

Thanks guys for all the support. Have decided that we will fight this head on. Her daughter & a few family member haven't been told yet, she is just waiting until she talks to her doctor tomorrow & will break the new to them, as she will need all the encouragement, motivation & support possible.
I was a complete mess the past couple of days -She went in the hospital on the 14th, had a long surgery on the 15th, was in ICU for 3 days & she was moved from ICU today & places in a 'regular' room. I will get more of an update from her doctor when I visit her tomorrow afternoon.
I believe that the only things that are impossible are the ones that you can't imagine, we will fight this and win!

Sorry to hear the bad news. I know it's not easy. I also lost a few people in my life to cancer. But hopefully, the doctors will have some course of action to prevent this awful disease from spreading further and maybe recover from it.
As it has been mentioned already, keep a positive attitude and be strong especially in her presence, that's a big part of the battle.
My thoughts are with you and your girlfriend.

Try to stay positive and enjoy the time you have together. Miracles can happen and hopefully with all of your love she can beat this thing.

Being diagnosed with cancer need not be a death sentence. Just look at the survivors in showbiz.....Ivy Ling Po, Hu Chin, Frances Yip. I wish you the very best as both of you face this difficult period. May both of you emerge stronger and closer from this.

I just wanted to add that what Ivy Ling Po added is quite right. My mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2002 and by 2004 regained her hair and health after radition and chemo. It is going to be a very hard journey, but you cannot give up, BOTH of you. Its tempting if one is lost in a snowstorm to feel that there is no hope left and to simply fall asleep and just die. YOU CANNOT DO THIS!!!! It may seem impossible at times, BUT IT IS NOT! The best thing to do is research on the internet and tons of it. That is what my dad did when my mom was first diagnosed. By learning about the disease he was able to ask the doctors the important questions and learn that there is hope and it helped reassured all of us! Knowledge is power and the more power you can have the better. If there is anything I can ask my parents that may be of help to you please let me know.
And you and your girlfriend are defiantly in our prayers. As a forum and as individuals.
