how do i get a good 5 minute clip off one of my movies. All i want to do is be able to upload to Youtube a couple of my favorite fight scenes.
In the past I had to rip a copy of the movie to my hard drive then edit it with my Sony Vegas software... but that takes about 2 hours and took up huge amounts of space.
I could use FRAPS, but it only gets 10 second clips.
Theres got to be an easier way. Suggestions?

I used premiere and exported a project I made, a girl with guns compilation with a song from my friend's band.

Check out this site, www.dvdhelp.com/. (http://www.dvdhelp.com/.) It has a lot of stuff on it that may help.

Did you even take a look at the links? Look under MPEG tools and AVI Tools. They also have forums where you can ask your question.

i retract my last comment. The site is good. The rice wine altered my judgement.
but i still cant find something that would do this:
I put in the dvd (it puts the lotion on its skin... haha) then push play. I want to run a program in the background that will copy what is playing and then make it into an mpeg clip.

PowerDVD can do that, but I don't know if the latest trial-version contains that option to use for free. I think it could be possible to record what is playing in WinDVD also, but I'm not sure.

thanks for your help guys. I was finally able to figure it out... took a while, it was like solving a quadratic matrice with 3 variables and negative roots...
anyways, i had to use a combination of three different programs. Came out with some pretty high quality low file size solutions. SO.....
My website is finally nearing completion. It has taken a long time and i will reveal it in the near future.
