been wanting to see this for a long time but the price is so high. 40$ on amazon, 36$ on yesasia...
anyone seen this movie or have the yesasia editions? Is it worth it?
i loved Gozu and from the description of the movie it would be similar in style to Gozu.

whoa, i dunno what description u ran into there but it certainly isnt.
first off- i have gozu too and im not too pleased with it.
except for some cool imagery, a few wildly staged scenes that are really wicked, its pretty much a mess of a movie.
overall more cons than pros, so i`d give it a 5/10 at best.
now as for TZ, its similarily 'mediocre' (rating-wise/ overall impression) in my book, but for other reasons.
first off, its got a whole lot more in common with movies in the likes of kitamura`s 'battlefield baseball' ( www.moviereviewindex.com/...eball.html (http://www.moviereviewindex.com/reviews/2762/Battlefield_Baseball.html) ) or kawasaki`s 'calamari wrestler' ( www.moviereviewindex.com/...r_The.html (http://www.moviereviewindex.com/reviews/82244/Calamari_Wrestler_The.html) ).
if i had to find a 'modern' western "zombie production" thats as close to an equivalent as it could get, i`d pick a mix of 'shaun of the dead' and 1990s 'night of the living dead'.
i dont own TZ and cant revisit right now to jog my memory about it; but i remember 'highlight scenes' were few far in between, it moves at a slow pace for 3/4 of its running time, there are a couple of awkward ideas that were actually amusing & the acting was pretty cool for the most part, theres very little action and its prime seller would be their quirkiness- its not like they were spectacularly staged or something.
the movie starts off calm, almost quiet, in a very standard, tame, but otherwise typical zombie-flick fashion; where we get to witness some infestation going down, get to know the main characters and learn a little about the dimensions of the plot.
the middle segment has some wacky episodic events, a bit more character development and a slow build-up to what we later learn is gonna be the showdown/conclusion.
it takes up a little speed for the last 15-30 mins (dont remember exactly anymore); for pure, slightly bizarre entertainment value, this is the segment to look forward to if u watch TZ.
i guess youre better off with any of the movie titles ive mentioned (although i`d rate battlefield baseball about the same as TZ).
nothing seriously crappy about TZ, nothing thats particularly good. its not laugh-out-funny, the action is going for absurdity instead of going for a bang. the story features the (typical for these kinda j-productions) social critizism, the movies photography is sometimes very nice, most times standard. writing, afair, was coherent, the direction pretty much too.
it doesnt come across as particularly low-budget, but it has that same low-b/underground feel like ie the aforementioned battlefield or bottled fools (aka hellevator).
