there is 2 different types... one with 20 gb, and the other is 60 gb. if you're lucky, get the one with 60 gb. the ps3 comes with a free blu-ray movie. so uh, if you already have a hdtv lcd screen that is able to play 1080p then that's sweet. you'll get the whole high definition experience watching your free blu-ray movie.
i think you shouldn't get one so soon, unless you're into those crappy games that are out for the ps3 right now, and there isn't much. nothing good out yet. you could just buy it so you'll be able to view the blu-ray discs. my bro bought one with 1 game. he recently purchased more blu-ray movies and no games.
with the ps3 you can go online with it, the controller is wireless, there is a ps3 store where you go for updates and download free demos if they have any. the console uses a computer cord outlet so thats kinda neat, more advance than the ps2. the old ps1 and 2 games can still play on the ps3, but i've heard not all of them will work. even if the old ps2 and 1 games still work, they're not gonna be in the high def quality like the ps3 games or the blu-ray discs. you will notice it and start comparing and sh!t.

Why would you want to buy a console that's wayyy too expensive, and you can just as easily buy an equally good 360 which is much cheaper, and has pretty much all the launch-games the PS3 has, except they're already budgetpriced for the 360...
...plus there's already talk that the PS3 will go down in price within this year.
I dont have any next-gen console yet btw. I'm still having fun with my Xbox, and the next-gens that arenow (coming) out are either still too expensive for me (360 and PS3), or just dont interest me (Wii). So I'll just wait a while, see how things will developed, wait for a nice pricedrop for either the 360 or the ps3, and then make my mind up about which machine to get.
At the moment, I'm more attracted to 360. But PS3 will have God of War 3, MGS4, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
360 has a bunch of great exclusive games as well, which I'm interested in... (Blue Dragon, Gears of War, Ninja Gaiden 2, DOA4 and DOA5... etc)

i highly recommend u DONT get a ps3...theres barely any games worth buying for it at the moment (which is normal), and its too pricey. wait like a year or so, when the system will go down, and there are more quality games on the market.
better yet, u can buy a DS and race against me in mario kart :)

tigerstyles, no I don't. I said my BrotheR got one. He has 1 basketball game, and quite a few blu-ray movies. If you wanna get one because of the blu-ray compadibility, ok but maybe you might want to wait. Sony did announce recently that they are gonna DROP THE PRICE THIS YEAR.
A PS3 for 600.00 isn't a bad deal for one that uses 60 GB. A PS3 for 600 that uses 20 GB, bad deal.
Playstation 3 / Compatible with DVD, Music CD, BD Disc, PS 1 2 and 3 games/ Free internet, Free online game play, with the storage up to 60 GB, for 600 is not that bad. I was looking at the high def players at Best Buy yesterday... and those cost around a thousand. I saw the famous Blu-ray player, and it costed exactly 999.99. The HD DVD players are just as much. There was this other player that is compatible with HD, BD, DVD, CD, VCD, and it's for sale costing around 2000.00. X-box 360 is selling a HD-DVD drive for 200.00. How much is a 360? Around 400.00 right? the HD-DVD drive for it is 200, so that equals to the same amount the PS3 is selling at. Anyone that have a 360, don't get the HD-DVD drive. EGM tested it and the HD dvds aren't shown at that 1080p high def resolution like how you're suppose to see it. So the HD-DVD drive for the X-box 360 is a rip off. Don't buy it. Now with the PS3, for 600.00, the Blu-ray works great. You don't need to install a driver, it's in the PS3. The quality is shown in 1080p (progressive), total high definition like how you would see it in a expensive Blu-ray player. So you get what you paid for. It's even better if you have the right TV to play it on, like this one:
http://www.shinyplastic.com/prodimg/samsung-57-inch-lcd.jpg
http://www.komplett.no/img/p/400/325173.jpg
Since everything for the PS3 is HD, you'll need a LCD HD 1080p TV. That's only if you want to see how superb the quality looks like to its fullest. The High Def stuff makes the DVDs look like they're VHS quality now. And that's kinda true because even if a movie is remastered, it's not in High Definition. So DVDs are like, the VHS of today now.
I never cared about picture quality. If they were viewable, good enough for me. When I finally saw something in HD... wow. You can see every grass on the yard, every nose hair on a actor, and you'll notice the sets and crops, because everything is so define. It's like you have very very sharp vision. If you watch a fish swimming in HD, it will look like the fish is in your living room.
I still have my X-Box, and I don't own a 360. The 360 has been out longer, and that is why they have better games. Is a 360 worth buying? If you ask me... Yes. For the games, only for the games, because they are in HD, from what I heard lol. So the picture quality of their games equal to the PS3's. Only bad thing is the HD-DVD drive. If you want to watch HD-DVDs, get a HD DVD player instead. But those cost so much, don't waste 200 bucks for a drive for the 360. Use it to buy other games lol.
I don't have a DS or PSP, but my brother has a PSP. I play it all the time. Aren't they at war? More people are buying the DS because it's for little kids. PSP is for adults I guess, or for the gamers.
If you check on Youtube, people been bitching and moaning about which handheld is better, same goes to the HD stuff, and the consoles. Then others just smash everything that's out there. There are these kids all under 18... they created a site about smashing electronic things and they tape themselves doing it putting on youtube. You can donate money to them to break whatever sh!t that's in stores today. People actually donate these juvenile losers money for them to get like a PS3, PSP, DS, 360, PS2, DVD players, TVs, Computers, or whatever so they can film themselves smashing it. Who the hell does that? Whatz funny is that their site looks professionally done. Some people got a lot of free time. And whoever donated money to these queers must not own any electronics.... it must be the out dated dumb jocks.

That's funny. You complained about how people are bitching and moaning about which console's the best, but immediately before that you yourself made an extremely ignorant and bitchy remark about the Nintendo DS. The DS isn't selling more because it's for kids, it's selling more because it's releasing games that appeal to everyone, gamers and non-gamers. Add to that the fact that they're actually releasing games unique to the format, rather than the PSP's approach of releasing games that feel exactly like home console games ie. ports of PS2 games, FPS, sports games, racing games, racing games, and yet more racing games. DS games are fresh and innovative, and for a change, it's paying off for Nintendo.
Don't get me wrong, this isn't a fanboy rant against the PSP either. They've released a few genuinely creative games, such as LocoRoco and Lumines, which rival any DS game. I just wanted to set the record straight regarding the DS.

I wasn't complaining was I? lol. I'm a little ticked about those kids smashing electronics.
you yourself made an extremely ignorant and bitchy remark about the Nintendo DS.
I just said what I've been hearing about the DS. I also did say I didn't have one or the PSP. I'm not into little handhelds and I didn't say much about it, so don't take it personally.
it's selling more because it's releasing games that appeal to everyone, gamers and non-gamers.
Games that appeal to everyone.... I'm sure the Nintendogs appeal to most old folks and younglings. That's a kids game to me. I've seen ppl play it, but it doesn't interest me. Anyway, what does the DS got that I should be crazy about? I notice it comes with a pen, you open it up like a labtop, the whole idea of the 2 screens is helpful but i don't find it amusing, and it looks kinda dull on the outside, but I don't know what it's capable of or what it can do. So maybe you should tell me lol.
I play my bro's PSP sometime..... the look of it is very cool. I've been hearing @#%$ that it takes long to load, which is total BS... because it doesn't.
Let me see, what can the PSP do... You can go online as long as you have internet access at home, the plug-in is the charger, it uses a memory stick, you connect the psp to the psp2tv and play it with your ps2 controller, can upload videos and music, download old ps2 and ps1 games, also you can download other games from other systems like the NES, SEGA G., N64, and SNES. You're able to watch movies on the PSP which was a bad idea from Sony. Then I heard somewhere that you can download free movies and psp games. I dunno, never tried it, ppl were saying it's fake.
What can the DS do?
One of my all-time favorite fighting game and is on the PSP right now. I can't imagine Tekken:D R being on the DS. It would be weird using a pen to try to move your fighter lol.
Add to that the fact that they're actually releasing games unique to the format, rather than the PSP's approach of releasing games that feel exactly like home console games ie. ports of PS2 games, FPS, sports games, racing games, racing games, and yet more racing games.
Yeah the Nintendog works for the DS, but for some of the other titles it's nothing new from the look of it. I never touched one, but I watch others play. I do notice creativity with what some of the games that uses both of the 2 screens. That's neat... some of the other games, depending on the title, it uses the second screen for your menu or a map... helpful and useful, but is that all they got? What else can you do when you're not playing any games on the DS?
The games for PSP aren't all racing.... there top games are:
Tekken: Dark Resurrection
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
Sid Meier's Pirates!
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
The Legend of Heroes III: Song of the Ocean
Killzone: Liberation
Daxter
Bubble Bobble Evolution
you see? some great titles here.

Haha, sorry man. Reading my comment again, it looks as though I really took it personally. :p
Games that appeal to everyone.... I'm sure the Nintendogs appeal to most old folks and younglings. That's a kids game to me.
Anyone can enjoy Nintendogs. One of my friends, who usually plays "grown up" games like Halo, has it and he's the same age as me (19).

It plays games. That's all a games console needs to do.
I can't imagine Tekken R being on the DS. It would be weird using a pen to try to move your fighter lol.
You don't have to use the stylus to play DS games. It has regular controls too.
Anyway, both handhelds have their merits. It just depends on what you want from a console as every console has something for someone. That's a good thing, I say! :D

"It plays games. That's all a games console needs to do."
agree 100%
im tired of all these systems that try to do 1 million different things, yet the important things, it doesnt do properly ie N-Gage. im not impressed with all the online this hi definition that, wireless htis, graphics are of this caliber, blah blah blah. if thats there, cool, but at the end of the day, i just want to have a fun time playing video games. i own a DS and i already own 4 games, and i can say that i find it much more fun than a psp, which my roommate owns. like portly sed, the games are innovative and creative. using the stylus pen for FPS is so comfortable and intuitive, yet i was very pessimistic at first. and beyond that, u can use regular controls for most games too. when u play a good game that properly utilizes the touch screen, u'll understand y ds is so popular :)
psp is a great system, but its really teh games that make or break all systems. the psp games arent bad....but ive already played most of the games on the ps2. im not interested in replaying the same games on a smaller scale. im interested in tyring new, fun experiences..which is y i like nintendo so much.

Exactly! Chen, we may not always agree on stuff kung fu-wise (eg. Corey Yuen;) ) but it seems we're in complete agreement here. :)
We still need that damn race on Mario Kart though!:p

Police Story 3? haha........
You kiddies and your games!!!!
If you're not into games.. u can always watch some kid smash the newest electronic gaming system out there today lol. whoever is paying these losers to break the consoles and handhelds must not want to buy a pack of cigarette haha.
the most interesting game for the DS, which I found cool, putting that pen to use, is Under the Knife. its the only one that grabs my attention, and it makes me wanna try it out. the rest of the other games.... IMO not worth touching. ohhh we just need more mario games :x .....
i was diggin' quick info on the DS.... it can go online too right? i asked some dude that owns one. it's pretty much the same as how the PSP works, but you still can't watch flash movies on it, same problem with the PSP.... so both handhelds can't handle that.
im not impressed with all the online this hi definition that, wireless htis, graphics are of this caliber, blah blah blah. if thats there, cool, but at the end of the day, i just want to have a fun time playing video games.
you shouldn't say such a thing.... obviously you haven't watched or play anything in high def yet to really appreciate what Blu-ray and HD-DVD has to offer. You don't know what you're in for....
i was living in a different city until i came back home, probably a month ago now. and when i got back, i notice my brother has a ps3 lol. he showed me what it was capable of doing. going online was free, and you're able to watch flash movies too so it has the best internet access. the only game my bro bought was NBA2K7, which is out for the other consoles too. i don't know how good or bad the graphics look on those other systems, but on the PS3, you can see everybody in the basketball court including the coaches, even the people in their seats, nothing is pixeled. You can see the mascot jumping up and down and everyone is in motion and in great detail. as you're playing, once the game gets intense, like during the 4th quarter, sh!t happens, foul, you're gonna shoot a free throw. the game gives ya a close-up like how we would see it on TV lol, and in full HD... you can see the sweat! on your player :eek ... it looks very real. After this game, my bro showed me the Blu-ray movie that came with the PS3. That blew me away also. He was like connecting his PSP to the PS3 downloading a game, then he connected his PSP to the computer and showed me how you download the old NES games and @#%$ like that. So I don't know why so many of you are hating the PSP, because it can do alot here. the PSP doesn't use a pen, but it has the analog stick lol, it might not have 2 screens, but 1 is good enough, and you're able to play your PSP games on your TV screen - using a PS2 controller is optional. Can you do this with the DS? probably not right? cuz it uses 2 screens. Ok, going back to my mini story, after being blown away by what the PS3 can do. I showed a few of my Kung Fu classics HKL DVD to my brother HAHAHAHAHA on his 1080p LCD Flat screen TV. he was like... "bad quality", and I agree with him. the picture quality was noticeable. even the remastered tri-star Drunken Master quality can't beat HD. we were going through my DVDs, like Star Wars Episode 3: ROTS and Rush Hour 2, watching it a little to see the quality difference.... and I was like ''man this would look so good in High Def." ....a few days later, my bro bought more Blu-ray movies and it's just too sweet.... 2 sweeeeet u guyz, that i made a decision not to buy anymore DVDs. they are like the VHS of today now.
Those of you that are not impress with the HD quality, go here: www.apple.com/trailers/ (http://www.apple.com/trailers/)
(if you been to the site before, ignore.) scroll down, find a movie trailer that says [HD] on it. hope you have Quick Time, because you'll need it to play the trailers. there will be 3 options, click where it says high definition. then that takes ya to the HD trailer with another 3 options of your choice file size. Now if you wanna watch the trailer in total HD, you'll have to choose the biggest file size. If it is 197 MB, then click it. Loading time might take long depending on what computer you're using, but it's worth the wait and the view.
All that talk about some people been putting HD-DVD and Blu-ray on torrents for everyone to download... if that's true, how are they able to upload such a big file? And for the ppl that downloads them... are you able to fit a HD movie file on your PC? hmm I found a little info here... saying they convert the HD file into a mpeg-4, then its watchable on powerDVD. '?' ...that's f@cked, and cheap. don't waste time downloading it, u won't get the whole high def experience, because if you watch it on your computer with a dvd program, chances are the movie won't be shown in the HD 1920x1080p. Any of u have a HD-DVD? i heard that on one side you can watch the movie and all the features on HD, then if you turn the disc over, it's the DVD format. so i guess that was done for ya to compare the quality.
Don't start saying the PSP is re-releasing old titles.... all of it is pretty new.... what you talking about? Capcom released Resident Evil: Deadly Silence for the Nintendo DS, and it's just
basically the first game that capcom release for PS1. The titles that been out for PSP are sequels or a advance versions, same for the DS, just that their features are appealing to more people. I'm looking at the DS and PSP game list.... nothing to brag about. If they're not sequels, it's a new version, or a completely new game but with the same faces. Mario, Wario, Metroid etc. On the PSP, the two Metal Gear games are different and new. They aren't PS2 re-releases for PSP. Ridge Racer is a old PS game that has been out for PSP, so it counts as a old re-releases. Other PSP titles are either a new advance version or a different game with the same title. The games released for the DS is like that too, then again they got the Nintendogs, and what do PSP have to compete with that? ...UMD movies lol. and and and you're able to convert flash movies like on youtube for your psp. pretty cool huh? lol. plus you can download old games from NES and Sega Genesis etc. so it's not that bad.
New Subject lol.... Is Kung Fu movies history? No because does Exit the Tiger, Enter the Dragon mean anything? .....so uh the Dragon enters... again.... on HD biatch lol.

guess its a matter of opinion, but i dont care to watch movies on a handheld....if i want to watch a movie, i want to watch it on a big screen (ie tv or computer), thats the ideal approach for me. thats cool u can download old games...but that certainly doesnt make or break any system. well, ur right, there not straight rereleases, but most psp games ive played retain very similar feel to many ps2 games without offering anything new enough to interest me. im not saying ds doesnt have its share of ports/rereleases...but i dont think anybody can debate that the DS library has far more original games than the psp. yeah, atv offroad isnt EXACTLY the same, but the experience is close enuff. yeah tekken isnt exactly the same, but its close enuff. at least the unique controls for the ds adds a new element to the games, more often than not. ur not going to find an experience like Elite Beat Agents anywhere else, ditto for Trauma Center, Phoenix Wright, Nintendogs, etc...
you shouldn't say such a thing.... obviously you haven't watched or play anything in high def yet to really appreciate what Blu-ray and HD-DVD has to offer. You don't know what you're in for....
who sez? ive seen both blu ray and HD dvd side and side. nobody sez they dont look great..
..but im not buying an 800 dollar machine, then repurchase my entire film library, AND buy a plasma tv for that experience. the positives do not outweigh the negatives to me. im very content watching movies in 'regular'.

you seen a full HD movie? or you just seen it side by side in stores where they have the right screen and player there already? Quality don't matter to you? I don't think you've experience the high def yet. Watch a favorite movie of your's in high def.... then give me your opinion. It's completely different.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse is on DVD. I've seen it many times. Blu-ray released their version, and when I saw the HD trailer of this flick, it looked like a different movie, and the crystal clear quality helps ya realize how badly Milla Jovovich is dress.
Anyway if you don't care about the quality, just keep getting DVDs.... much cheaper. Most dvds now and days cost around 10 bucks lol.... it's not that bad of a deal.
I got a big ass collection of dvd movies also... never touched it for a while, because HD has taken over... making DVD formats look like sh!t.
