Don't know if this is the one you're seeking but....

Trutech TT 1620 model ( CyberHome CH-DVR 1600 clone )
1. Power on the player
2. With the remote control press set up.
3. With the remote control press the following sequence of
numbers: 1, 6, 9, 5, 1, 8.
4. A hidden menu will appear.
5. Choose your required region from 0-9
6. Region 0 sets the player to multiregional.
7. Exit the menu and power off and then power on. The player
will now be set to the region of your choice.

The one that replaces the CH-300 or CH-320 is the Trutech TT-320.

Wow read the reviews of the people that bought it, alot of them sound angry. Cyberhome wasn't great either, but it wasn't that bad.

I once read a thread devoted to them over at the DVDManiacs forum. If I remember correctly, they started off working really well, but crapped out over time. I also think there was a reference to Trutech being an alias that Cyberhome adopted after Philips went after them for withholding DVD royalties.

Forget the cyberhome stuff. Get the Philips 642. For sale his week at Target. Better quality all around. Region hack in seconds with less steps.

That's odd about the CyberHomes. I have (2) CH-500 and they both work fine. The first one I bought is now three years old and it still works just as good as the Toshiba I purchased back in '99. (Only difference is the Toshiba cost me $300 whereas the Cyber only $35).

Mine still works, but it doesn't like DVDrs. When I play a DVDr and it's near the last 10 mins of the movie it keeps freezing and skipping. I'd like to upgrade to a player that doesn't do that. The Trutech's sound like more of the same so I think I'll pass on those.

It seems you only need to lube the rails where the lens slide. Use sillicone grease (available at any Radio Shack) or just a little car motor oil. That should work.8)

Bought my Philips 642 last night. The best region free player so far, and I've gone through 5 different units (Apex, Daewoo, Cyberhome) since 1999. The HKL NINJA IN THE DRAGON'S DEN looked great on my DLP projector! Plays the UK dvds perfectly.

I will consider this unit, Dion. For how much did you purchased it? In which store can I find one?8)

It's on sale for under $50 this week at Target, at least in Colorado. I understand some stores vary their sales in different states. With sales tax, about $51. Considering I paid $100 for a lousy APEX in 1999, that's a good deal.

The Philips 642 is a pretty good dvd player, I got mine mainly to play Divx but I did hack it & it plays every region perfectly, it played so good that my GF came over one day and "borrowed" it & it have not found it way back. So I went ahead & "upgraded", I got the Philips 5960, because I wanted something with a USB port, HMDI output & can upscale-I am not ready to invest in a HD player yet. The philips is one of the 3 players i currently have. As Dion Brother posted above me, it is currently on sale at Target, plus it is also on sale at Circuit City and both places have it for about $50. If it is not available in your area, try the Philips DVP-5140-which is the one that was "suppose to replace" the 642, but since Philips have come out with 2 other models. The difference between the 642 & 5140 are the 5140 is quieter BUT it lacks both an optical & S-video connectors, everything else is basically the same.

For the 5140:
A. Turn on the unit
B. Open the loading tray
C. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
D. Navigate to the "Preferences" page using the right arrow key
E. Enter 138931
F. You will now see the current region code displayed
G. Press the Up/Down arrow keys to select "0" for all regions
H. Press the "Play" button on the remote.

For 5960:
Same as the 5140 above.
