got my jade screen in the other day.
Gordon Liu is set to play the main villian in Rush Hour 3. Freakin awesome.
Tony Jaa turned down an offer from Jackie Chan to play the part. Jackie even went as far as to show the producers footage of Jaa doing what he does best. I think it was a stupid move on Jaa's part.

Man I sure would have loved to see Jackie and Jaa square off, can't believe he turned down that kind of money. I hope they stage an intricate fight scene between Jackie and Gordon throwing in some traditional kung fu moves. Wonder if Liu will play a renegade Shaolin monk character to play off his "Master Killer" monk fame in the west?

I'm very HAPPY that Jaa didnt go for the money, but instead likes to continue doing his own thing.
You guys really think that there would have been a big-ass 10 minute fight between Jackie and Tony, if Tony would have been in Rush Hour 3? I doubt it. He would just be resorted to grawling a bit, maybe spectacularly taking out some of his own stuntteam, after which Jackie does a small battle with him (helped a bit by wires) where he kicks Tony's ass.
So no, I'm relieved and happy that Tony wants to keep creative input and make his own movies, instead of moving to, and getting wasted by, Hollywood.

You do make a good point there, Jackie is alot older than Jaa. Gordon is probably a better matchup as he is alot closer to Jackie's age.

That is some interesting news but I don't hold out much hope for an amazing fight between Jackie and Gordon considering the lacking fight between Jackie and Donnie in RH2.

You mean Shanghai Knights, but I hear ya ;)
That fight was a letdown. I believe it was originally longer, but then it was cut for the theatrical cut.
Nice to hear Gordon will be in RH3, cause that could turn out cool. Hope it's not just a cameo.

Oops ... yes I did mean Shanghai Knights ... thanks for the correction Yi Long.
Wow, that casting came out of no where, I'm glad to see Liu get some work, hopefully they can kick Ratner in the nuts, and steal the camera away long enough for a great fight scene, show the young'ns how to do it.
I'd rather see Jaa in a HK production (first, anyways), and it's good to see someone that isn't a money grub, he's doing what he believes, not what his agent is telling him to do, and you know it had to be hard, he idolizes Jackie.

the uncut fight scene in Knights is amazing. Gordon will be playing the main villian in the movie so im sure it won't just be a cameo. Jackie knows very well that the fans wanted to see something like this and hopefully he will be able co-ordinate something memorable.
We may never see a great fight like jackie vs. Hwang Jang Lee in drunken master, or vs. Ken Low, or benny urquidez, but it doesnt matter. My two favorite actors are going to be in the same movie which is very cool.
I can't wait to see Jackie and Jet in the monkey king movie and hopefully something won't happen like with Jackie and Chia-liang liu on the set of Drunken Master 2 when they had major disagreements over the fight choreography.
Maybe its best that Jaa stay away from Hollywood for a while but I really want to see the guy succeed. Tosh is right about an HK production. Jaa is the man.
Jackie tried the states out early in his career and it almost ruined him, he was pretty down on himself for the dismal ratings that the Big Brawl and Cannon ball run got and was close to throwing in the towel.

He did throw in the towel, just temporarily. He didn't make any stateside films until 1998's Rush Hour. The 4 films previous to that were all HK efforts that were dubbed to "test" the waters so to speak.

I don't think Jet will care. Doesn't he usually let someone like Corey Yuen do is choreography anyway. If there is a difference, it will probably have to do with Jet's character having to do something he strongly doesn't agree with. I see Jet as having less ego than Jackie or Pops when it comes to fight scenes.

Well, as far as we know, Jet's never had much input with any of his fight scenes choreography-wise. Hell, it's not even him fighting in his fight scenes half the time! ;)
It's obvious that someone like Jackie, who choreographs most of his own fights, is going to feel more strongly about his fight scenes compared to Jet, who always lets someone else take care of his fights.

You are kidding right?
You did see RH2?
That's a pretty optimistic version.
If it was anything like RH2, it would be a crappy fight with Chris Tucker vs Tony Jaa.
It would ruin Jaa's career.

Well, you have a point there.
Maybe THAT'S the reason Tony Jaa turned down RH3. Because he wasn't fighting jackie but Tuker and he didn't wanted to get his ass kicked by Chris Tuker in his Hollywood debut.

...or Chris Tucker even. ;)

nah. i think the reason jaa turned it down is because the movie itself is just not a good premise for that kind of highly anticipated matchup, rather than him being somehow beaten by tucker...? i give the producers a lil more credit than that.
the think everybody needs to remember that the rush hour movies are NOT police story. they arent DM2, they arent any of jackie's classics. RH movies are comedy first and foremost with lighthearted action, so if u ask me, its kinda nieve to expect an all out HK fight. rush hour movies have NEVER been about the action, rather than the comedy, which is y u got tucker and zhang ziyi going at it in a rather un-kung fu way. nobody watches the films looking for jackie vs ken lo 2. on that note, im glad he turned down the role too, hes better off just waiting for the right film role to square off against jackie.

Tony probably wasnt in Rush Hour 3 because he's currently making Ong Bak 2 which he is directing aswell as starring in. I'm guessing he simply wouldnt have had the time.
If he was available, im sure he would've jumped at the chance to appear in a film with one of his heroes.

if you check on tonyjaa.org, they got info to why he didn't accept RH3. it seems like he's gonna do a cameo 'again' for the next bodyguard movie.

herez an teaser trailer demanded by new line cinema. ;) :lol

i think they're getting 2 old 4 thiz sh!t. anyway, this is a REAL teaser trailer, not a fan-made.
i remember reading somewhere that ratner wanted to do his own version of the game of death kareem vs. bruce for RH3. so i'm guessing this tall ass azn dude is probably gonna go up against carter. in game of death, little azn vs. tall blk. my guess for rush hour 3, tall azn vs. tucker.
