dang, screw the dragon dynasty, weintein co., and hkl dvds when you got something like the blu-ray disc and HD dvds... my bro got a ps3, and of course u can play all the ps1,2, and 3 games, not only that, u can do so much more, you get free online gameplay, and you're able to go online, upload videos and music cds, play dvds, plus herez the biggy... you can play the blu-ray discs! i was watching will ferrell's talladega nights the ballad of ricky bobby.... and i didn't care what was going on, but WOW i was busy viewing how superb the quality looked. you can see EVERYTHING! and it just looks so smooth. the quality is so damn good that it makes you actually concentrate more on what's happenin' in the movie. the quality is this good in the all the ps3 games as well. after watching a blu-ray... i started watching one of my old hkl dvds lol.... damn, quality not too good lol.

I ain't a PS3 fan or Blu-Ray for that matter.

But since Sony just snubbed the adult industry who want to use blu-ray it looks like HD will be the winner possibly depending on which column/logic you follow.

And Blu-Ray and HD-DVD got cracked after Xmas so they are no longer safe from being ripped and uploaded. There are a few HD-DVDs on the torrents already.

I don't expect any of the smaller labels (re: the ones who put out kung fu films) except maybe Sony and 20th Century Fox to release anything on HD until the format war is over.

seems like not alot of ppl are fan of the ps3 yet, becuz of the price. what's wrong with the blu-ray? have u seen any real blu-ray disc yet on the ps3 or a blu-ray player? i'm impress... i remember hearing and seeing the changes goin' to be made with the formats.... and i didn't really care until i saw it. i've been hearing that HD might be ten times better, but from what i had seen here so far with the real blu-ray disc and everything. blu-ray is really good, superb, out of this world. i didn't know ppl were trying to @#%$ up the blu-ray and hd so it be downloadable. that's messed up, i kinda think it is much better to buy it, because you get higher quality sound and picture. so it's meant to be watched on a big flat screen tv with the theater sound systems. not for ur small computer screen. you can see everything damn thing clearly and i'm not even kidding on that. you don't see any frame that's a little pixeled. it's all very crystal clear. i haven't seen a real HD disc yet, but from the look of the blu-ray.... it's alot better than a regular dvd. not only that, a blu-ray is able to fit more features than a dvd. so it doesn't need 2 disc to fit the movie and the making of the film. u see what i mean? so blu-ray is a 10 in my book, even if the HD can top them.

and about the kung fu films/martial art films....... ur probably right, so don't buy anymore HKL and DD dvd @#%$ lol. blu-ray did release House of Flying Daggers, but thats more modern MA. i hate that movie anyways but they did release it. i think it would be so cool to see a old school KF flick be in this format. it be worth buying and seeing.

I have seen Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, side by side on plasma screens as a matter of fact. As far as I can tell they looked nearly identical. Again you have to factor in the quality of the film mastering, if you check some of the DVD forums some of the Blu-ray titles and HD-DVD titles are not mastered correctly. I would be happy with either.

HD-DVD and Blu-ray can handle the same amount of data now, 50GB. So they both can contain the same features and quality of film.

I also have never said either format sucked. I think Sony is totally mishandling Blu-ray and IMHO that will be the cause of it's failure. Note their past mistakes betamax, walkman (ipod crushed it), the audio CD rootkit last year, and UMD. IMHO Sony's conduct with these fiascos will doom Blu-ray not the actual format or it's quality.

You can't expect people to pay $400+ (upwards of $800 for new gen blu-ray/HD players) for a new player and invest more money in new disks when they don't know if that format will be around in 1 or 2 years. Remember DIVX DVDs and players sold by Circuit City in the USA?

I'm all for HD, I would love to watch movies in that format on a nice HD LCD TV, but until 1 format wins I won't touch it.

As for PS3, I'm not that impressed with it and it somewhat appears to be a blatant play by Sony to get as many blu-ray players into the household as they can. That aspect of it was quite obvious and led to it's many delays. I can't blame Sony for trying that tactic, I would if I was them. But to turn around and basically "doom" your format by snubbing the adult industry is not a good idea. Sony won't even endorse dual disks... HD-DVD on 1 side, blu-ray on the other. I believe that Warner just rolled out Superman Returns on that type of disk.

In this modern era, if 100s computer hardware manufacturers can assembly in these industry groups and come out with things like USB, USB2, 802.11x wireless networking, and all these standards then why couldn't the big media companies all sit down and come up with 1 format that could hold the 20GB+? The answer, coz Sony is addicted to making new formats. They turned from profit by innovation, to profit by proprietary format lock-in.

what you mean by they are not mastered correctly? is it a big deal? shouldn't matter as long as it's at that high resolution.

HD-DVD and Blu-ray can handle the same amount of data now, 50GB. So they both can contain the same features and quality of film.

at first HD had 30 gb for their storage, somehow they got it together to stay in the ball game with the blu-ray.

Yeah I didn't say you said either format sucked. I don't think Sony is mishandling blu-ray... maybe you need to elaborate a little bit more. Let me see, firstable i don't have a ps3. how much is it? around 600.00, cause sony dropped the price. right? how much is a blu-ray player? about the same price as the PS3?... now the x-box 360 is around 400.00, and they released a HD dvd drive for it very recently i think, costing about 200.00. In my new EGM magazine, they were comparing the Blu-ray/ps3 with the HD driver/360. well, the BRD/PS3 is better from what they said testing both formats. Geez a driver for 200 bucks is still a lot of money. and adding it to the 360 you're able to view the HD dvds, but not in the high-def resolution you want. so..... something stupid HD did right there. Blu-ray got a lot more top manufacturers backing them up like, Sony of course, panasonic, phillips magnavox, LG, mitsubishi, pioneer, samsung, and sharp. HD got toshiba, sanyo, onkyo, kenwood, and mitsubishi whoze supporting both formats. It seemed like blu-ray had more studios supporting them, but from what i've been reading, HD has more studios going to them now.

Since both format is able to hold up to 1080p high def resolution, ...its all down to the price. first one to offer a better deal will probably win the war. Blu-ray was looking bright, then HD caught up to them, then Blu-ray took a different turn, surprising me. They said somewhere that, No Porn for Blu-ray.... but now... it looks like they're gonna take up on it. Vivid Video, one of the top adult entertainment companies are committing to their first Blu-ray release due sometime early of this year. and that might keep them in the battle with HD. I'm sure you know about the pornographic Digital Playground studio..... they were leaning on Blu-ray, but since Blu didn't want to go nude in high def, they went to HD. So as of now, Digital Playground has quite a few of their titles on HD DVD.
I don't think Blu-ray will lose, because more people are into the Sony Playstation, and it has been sold out from what i've heard. The whole deal with the Xbox 360 and the HD DVD driver sold separately was a stinking down fall. When the PS3 lowers in the $$$ range, it's going to pick up.... don't you think? and that PS3 can read Blu-ray discs, so I'm sure the average buyer would not only buy a PS3 game, but a BR disc as well. So I don't see Blu-ray going away.

What makes HD DVD better than Blu-ray? I've been doing some serious scoping dude.... and uh... I can see why more people are into HD instead. Ok, both quality equals, but HD offers more... like interactive menus lol. I don't give a damn about that, but seems like others do. and the thing with HD DVDs is that.... if you want to burn it, you can, using a HD DVD-R... and on the HD DVDR, it's able to hold up more space than a regular DVD-R, plus the disc is rewriteable. you can burn a dvd to a hd dvd-r, and you're able to crank up the quality a bit too. Little things like this, is why people prefer HD DVD. still i'm thinking, blu-ray isn't going away anytime soon because of the popularity of the PS3. Sony has those UMD movies for the PSP... and i'm sure more movies are gonna keep coming for the little handheld as to the Blu-ray movies for the PS3.
