Old Boy (I have seen it again, but still)
Requim for a Dream (haven't seen the whole thing though)

requim for a dream i found disturbing as well jirpy. You must watch it all, it gets better.
I showed this to a friend that had a "problem" in the past, and i blame myself for not thinking properly, and said friend could not finish the movie.
Have not seen the others.
Faces of death did it for me.Seen parts and don't care to see any more..not my bag.
Once were Warriors was an absolute great movie that not many people have seen, but should. Oldboy?!? I can watch this over and over. I didn't know many of the scenes in Faces of Death was fake till just a couple years ago, that makes it more like a horror movie to me now then a documentry, they did a good job with the effects for the time (even the monkey brain scene was fake, even though people really eat like this).
Audition was that movie for me.

Schindler's List. I only watched it once, back when it was in theatres. Too disturbing to watch again.

Men behind the sun was about the japanese murdering and raping in Naking, wasnt it? Just saw it in a local shop this afternoon. Never heard of it before, so quite a coincidence to se eit in this thread.
Requim for a Dream was just an extremely bad movie. It's just pure anti-drugs propaganda, showing the very very worst that could and would happen when people use drugs or get addicted. It was way too over the top, and the mother was just a horrible actress. Just a bad bad movie. I @#%$ hate it.
Old Boy: great movie, and TBH it didnt depress me all that much. I would definately watch it again.
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is a bit more depressing I guess, but again I would re-watch that.
Some of those mainland Chinese dramas are quite 'heavy' though. Also Cyclo was a movie that is great, but not 'fun' to watch (although I could watch that Tony Leung scene in the disco with Radiohead playing, a 1000 times)
One flew over the Cuckoos Nest certainly has a depressing ending. But I did watch that 3-4 times within a few weeks, cause I had to write a review about it... but I can see how the ending could keep people from watching it again.
I have the nagging feeling I'm forgetting a few films... so I hope someone mentions them...

Yeah, they should make more movies about the happy joy-joys of hard drugs.

That's not what I'm saying. But Requiem was so much over the top that it's just useless and lying propaganda...

Requiem is very disturbing but it is one of my favorite films. The end where Connely curls up on her bed holding her huge bag of heroin to her stomach, wow. I don't get moved by movies too easily.

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance has a particularly disturbing scene, but I've seen it twice already so I guess that doesn't count. I guess I've never seen a film I found disturbing AND liked, but never wanted to watch again. If I like it, I'll watch it again, whether it's disturbing or not.

r u kidding yi long?
requiem for a dream is a brilliant movie on virtually every level...all of the actors were magnificent, and darren aronofsky's direction was sharp and powerful. in the grand scheme of everything, its really not that over the top...it only seems so because all of the main characters are correlated to each other. u cant call it lying propaganda at all...because everything that happens to the characters is very possible. i dont kno how many hardcore drug addicts u know, but lets just say that ive seen some really f*cked up ppl b4 in my life, so nothing in the movie felt farfetched to me in the slightest. ppl do get vicious infections, girls have whored themselves out like that, women have overdosed hardcore like that. the screenplay was also based on a book too btw.
love that movie, and it really spooked the heck outta me the first time i saw it.

No... it was just WAY over the top, with all the cast starting with drugs/an addiction, and ending up as complete and utter shite. They all end up in the worst ways possible. Obviously, drugsaddictions and all that are bad, and yes, ofcourse there will be people that end up like the ones in the movie... but 95-99% of the drug-users WONT. So the whole movie is just based on multiple worst-case scenarios, and makes it all completely unrealistic and unbelievable to first portray these characters as 'normal' people, like you and me, and then having them ALL go to hell. I'm sorry, man. I dont do drugs, never did, never will, but that scenario is just complete and utter bullshit. it's just way over the top, and once you realize that while watching the movie ('oh sure... here we go again(!), ANOTHER disaster') it just ruins everything else that might be good about the movie.
TBH, although I thought the cinematography was interesting, with it's MTV-style editing to make you forget this is badly written 'made-for-tv-movie', I also didnt think much of the performances. But, TBH, that could be because of the woman that plays the mother was just overacting so much that it was just painfull to watch. I'm sure Leto and Connely were OK. They usually are.

Hey, job succeeded then, I guess. ;)
But hey, these are just my personal opinions on the movie, so if you, or anyone else likes it, who am I to say you shouldnt. Personally I think it's a shite piece of anti-drugs propaganda.
I'd say The Basketball Diaries does a better job portraying the risks of drugs... or at least a more realistic one.

uhhh...getting addicted to heroin is exactly what will happen as this movie shows u. this movie shows u the truth and nothing but the truth. heroin is no joke and will do exactly what u see in the movie. honestly..i hate to say it, but i know alot of people addicted to heroin and other opiates and i only know of 1 person who quit, but still takes pills, not opiates.
I agree Chen, this movie is great in every way!
I really didn't care for requiem for a dream, me and Chen Zhen discussed this before, but I disagree with the propaganda, now the mother popping the perscription pills is more of a metaphor showcasing the abusive medication doctors push down the throats of Americans for big $$$. The Heroin on the other hand would be a little more accurate, you don't want to know a junkie, they'll slit your throat for their next fix. The movie for me was depressing, and not in a good way, and yes, I can see where Yi gets the mtv, I just don't see where people think this movie is so great they include it as one of the best movies ever:x IMO:smokin

Iron Fisted Monk?

It was way to graphic and the film didn't need a scene THAT graphic. It could have done just as well to show the beginning and the end of the rape like many other films have.
I personally find it hilarious if not slightly arrousing.
To each their own, but I would say you're twisted IMHO.
