Just a heads up to those with children or neices/nephews. I found this wonderful book that is a series for young readers. Its like a great series of kung fu movies all wrapped into the pages of a book. This is going to be one of my many "conversion" tools for the little ones in my life, so that i might help to pass the kung fu torch on to the next generation.

Ive aleady read the first book and it is superb. I implore you all to check it out.

click on the link for "front flap" and it will tell you all about the book.

On a side note, we've seriously got to ensure that our treasured hobby, kung fu flicks, gets passed along to the next generation in some way shape or form. My kids already love to watch kung fu movies with me and will probably pass this hobby along to their children.

Thanks for the link, I'll go a step farther since I decided this long ago...

My kids will be attending organized martial arts classes until they are 13 or 14 at which point I will give them the option of continuing or not. The reasons I will be doing this are too numerous to list but the discipline and self confidence are the 2 at the top of the list.

Are you going to have them study Wing Chun Limm or are you thinking of another martial art?

That all depends on where I am living at that time and what systems are offered. I would be fine with TKD or Karate because the application for this purpose is the same.

I'd rather they studied a CMA like Wing Chun but anything is better than nothing. What do you have against Wing Chun? :p

Oh no, I have nothing against Wing Chun and think it's a great art, especially for in-fighting and even studied it for a short time. I have respect for all martial arts and would never disrespect someone's style. I just asked that question because I was guessing you would want your kids to follow in their father's footsteps. ;)

It would be nice to have my future child be a Wing Chun master when they are about 16!

It would be nice to have them in the system that I study especially coz it would give me someone to practice with!!!
