I have most if not all of this TV series that I just started to watch and it is copied from old VHS print, the print itself is fair to watchable. The thing about the TV series that is different from the movies is the fact that it shows a different side of Ogami Itto and his Son Daigoro. And there relationship its more Humane and there is a lot of emotions in every episode. There is one episode that stuck out to me the most, after Ogami kills a slew of Men on the river banks he bends down to look at his Son in the eyes, and Daigoro breaks down crying holding onto his father. I had to rewind that scene over & over again that was a Great scene one of the best I've ever seen it really captured the bond between Father & Son. And maybe its the fact that Daigoro knows he will never have a normal childhood and Ogami knows this as well, or maybe it was the realization that his Father could get killed at any moment and he might be alone, whatever the reason was it was just a Great Scene. And it just brought me to a newer fond feeling for this great series. I would've just loved to had seen Tomisaburo Wakayama play in the TV series.

Where are you guys finding this?

Only places i've ever seen sell it at like 2 episodes a disc for normal price which is insane considering it's length.

A friend of mine had them and made me a copy of the entire series. But I understand that CK over at www.kurotokagi.com (http://www.kurotokagi.com) is getting a remastered print and putting them out. It would've been great if Ronin Entertainment put out a legit release as they did with the Shadow Warriors Box set.

OK I've the complete watching the 1st. & 2nd. season, and it is a Great series one of the Best I've ever watched. But maybe that is due in part that I love the movies, and it really fills you in on his revenge/hated towards the Yagyu, you just can't stop watching it, the only problem that I really didn't like was that in season 2 they change Yagyu Retsudo with a new Actor, and then in season 3 they change Daigoro with another Child Actor who I feel doesn't fit in with the series. I'm very disappointed with that fact this new Daigoro isn't even cute and to me he just dosen't belong in this series. I'd like to know why they did this and they also brought back the original Retsudo from the 1st. season. I just can't wait to finish this series which should have the final conflict between Retsudo and Ogami Itto.

SPOILER ALERT: DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE ENDING!!!!

OK I just finished watching the entire TV Series of LW&C Greatest Series that I've ever watch. My question to you is at the very end of the movie when Daigoro kills Retsudo he holds him and calls him Grandson. I was like WOW, I also have the entire Comic Book Series that I've only read 2 volumes so far but I had to look at the last volume and see the difference in the endings, and it was almost the same thing in Retsudo final words he said "Grandson of my Heart", did I miss anything here that wasn't his grandfather was it? Maybe you might have the answer to it. In the end it kinda made you feel sad because now Daigoro was all alone, but throughout the series he was being prepared for this day. I just didn't think it was going to end the way it did. I wouldn't exactly call it a Happy Ending. I would've still loved to have seen Wakayama Tomisaburo in the TV Series.
But Nakamura did an Excellent job, at times watching his Sword Fighting skills I was like OK not bad but at other times I was amazed at the skill he had. This is a must own TV series.

I still can't believe that this series hasn't been made a legit release by AnimEigo or BCI

I spoke to Robert one of the Guys over at AnimEigo and asked them about the possibility of a Future release of Lone Wolf & Cub TV Series, here was his response.

Do you have any plans in the future to release the TV series of
"Lone Wolf & Cub" starring Yorozuya (Nakamura) Kinnosuke?

Stated:
We never discuss our nefarious future plans until after they have
come to fruition. But we do know that quite a few people would like
us to do it.

Thanks for letting us know that you're amongst them.

Nice.

That's cool since animeigo would probably do it boxset style which would make it somewhat affordable.

inchilottaP, you should also email AnimEigo and ask them the same thing, about releasing this Series as a Box set. Hey if enough of ask hopefully they will do it and stop putting out movies that most of use might not buy. This is a must own Collection and if its remastered "forget about it".

I see that Kurotokagi has his first remastered vol of this available on his website now. But the disc only has 4 episodes on it. Seeing as the series ran for 78 episodes, its gonna be quite a while before he has the entire series done. Doin the rough math... $20 for each disc (inc. shipping)...... and approx 20 discs to cover all 78 epsiodes (if released 4 per disc)... lookin at @ $400 to own the series. Damn I wanna see this series bad, but not that bad. And I dont wanna get into a series that probably wont get entirely released. Run into the same issues I did with Mute Samurai sereies. Looks like I need shoot an email to Animeigo as well.

Well, I agree with you there its a lot of Money when you do the Math, even though its in a remastered quality but I give CK a lot of credit and I'm glad he's doing it. But you should definitely email AnimEigo I did and so did a few other people, like I said if enough of us email them hopefully they might pick up this series and do it. I like to buy the entire series at once instead of installmnets, But with the Mute Samurai I think it was just (1) season so it won't be as hard to put out the enitre series.

As far as the "Mute Samurai" series I already spoke with Merlin and that is in his top priority to have it done real soon.

Gwailo, don't expect the TV Series situation to change. I had similar complaints and got all my posts deleted over at that dojo. You're better off seeking out the TV-broadcast versions of Lone Wolf and Cub which Daisho saw. They're cheaper and are available for the whole series. Some people like to spend hundreds of dollars and wait entire years for a single series to finish, others don't.

Yakuza, your right I don't want to wait for a long, long time to see a certain movie, and believe this really is a must see TV series even moreso if you loved the movies.

Big fan of the films and the comic. Needless to say I've always wanted to see the tv show.

Considering the job BCI did with Shadow Warriors, decent transfers, the whole first season, and at a great value, if possible, I'd rather they pick it up over Animeigo (spotty transfer record) or Media Blasters (still trickiling out Zatoichi Monogatari 3-4 eps at a time).

I think MB blasters learned that its not wise to only put 3-4 episodes on a disk, that is most likely why there not producing any more of the Zatoichi series, I hope either AnimEigo or BCI pick up the LW&C series.

I've got the LW&C cub series and to be honest I wasn't all that impressed with it. It certainly doesn't compare to the Zatoichi TV series..well not to me at least!

fabhui, WOW I thought the TV series was just awesome, it had Action in almost every episode and a great storyline as well. Now don't get me wrong I love the Zatoichi films also, but I want to know if you would still like the Zatoichi TV series as much if Katsu Shintaro wasn't in them. Because to me the TV series of LW&C was missing Wakayama Tomisaburo even though Yorozuya (Nakamura) Kinnosuke did an excellent job as Ogami Itto the role was made for Wakayama.

I emailed AnimEigo and spoke to Robert and he said that a lot of people have been asking them to get it, but he didn't confirm anything about it. But what other companies would pick it up except Media Blasters, and I really hope that if its them they don't put it out like the Zatoichi series. I want to have the complete season in a box set.

Definitely NOT!!!! Katsu Shintaro IS Zatoichi!

Don't get me wrong, I thought the LW&C TV series was ok but I guess I was expecting a little more from it.
Now if it had starred Wakayama Tomisaburo then I'm pretty certain I would have a different opinion about it.
