"Mute Samurai"/"Bounty Hunter" series:

Now I not sure how many of you have seen these (2) series but there are both Great, there are a few similarities in the storyline as there are both Bounty Hunters but that is really it.

In the "Bounty Hunter" series he seems to enjoy his Night time job as I would call it, because he is a School Principal by day and an Assassin by night,he does it for the money because he wants to make sure that all of his students have there belly's full. Merlin over@ samurai dvd has the movie "Killers Mission" which was the Movie that started the "Bounty Hunter" TV Series. Continuing the adventures from the film series, Shikoro Ichibei is back with his cache
of unique weapons and the quickest sword in all Japan. Having worked directly for the
Shogun in the past, he now runs a school in his secret identity as an educator. Mean-
while he takes on secret missions as "The Bounty Hunter" (Shokin Kasegi). The
touches of humor during the scenes around the school disappear once Ichibei is on a contract. Powerful swordplay and brutal violence highlight these episodes as
Japan's greatest sword star Wakayama Tomisaburo stands tall against all odds in this
dynamic television series.

And in the "Mute Samurai" series its all about Revenge which makes it all the more entertaining. Wakayama Tomisaburo plays Kiichi (The Demon) Hogan who is a Bounty Hunter who is saving his money in order to take a boat to Spain in order to avenge his Parents death at the hands of the Spanish Sword master Gonzalez, who also cut the young man's throat, thus robbing him of his voice forever. Great action and its so different to see Wakayama use hand to hand combat in these movies instead of always using a Sword.

Mute Samurai is one of my favorites. Loved the cameos from his brother.

Too bad the mute samurai didn't make it onto the big screen. I'm sure they would have done at least one film with the character if the chambara genre hadn't faded by the mid 70s when the show was made.
