You mean the one where they show more scenes of Tom Cruise getting his butt whooped by Henry Sanada? That'll be released in November as a box set, complete with a Ken Watanabe doll inside.

I'd love to see an alternative ending where Mr Overrated (Cruise) gets whooped, yes please! And the doll thing....oh lord can't wait for it! :rollin

Still deciding whether I'll buy it...

SPOILER

I would also have loved an alternative ending. When they were charging with their horses, I thought that was it. All the remaining Japanese should have died by gatling gunfire and blood must spurt in slo-mo from Cruise's body and they would have died fighting, true heroes. That's how I would have filmed it.

The other night on History channel that had a great samurai docu that started at their beginnings all the way through the 47 ronin, setsuma(spelling?) and the guy in the late 40s/50s (I forget his name) - now that show was great! The had the author of the "Last Samurai" book on there and some other well known historians also. Could this be the same one?

I'm still gonna get the set even though (thanks to Chiba2000 and you other guys!) I think Twilight Samurai is far better. I still need to see the scene of the samurai coming out of the forest and the mass battles scenes dont hurt either.

Limubai2000,
do you remember what was the name of the show on History channel? I hope they show it again, I liked what you said about it and want to see it for myself.

I checked on History channel's website and through the store, there are 3 different VHS tapes of samurai shows. I think the one I saw was the 100 min single tape version but I'm not sure since the 2 tape set talks about everything that was contained in the show I saw.

I'm not sure which to get but I did send them an email asking which VHS tapes were what. I have a feeling that they have some duplication amoung those tapes.
