Has anyone heard of this movie? It stars Goro Kishitani (the bad-ass dude from Returner) and is directed by Takashi Miike. A lot of Miike's more popular movies have been released on DVD here in the U.S, so I'm wondering if anyone has any information on this movie.

It's an adaptation of the same book Fukasaku used to make Graveyard of Honor and Humanity. This one is set in the late 80's through the late 90's, rather than the originals post-war setting, and follows a psycho yakuza's downward spiral. It's powerful stuff and is a masterpiece of yakuza cinema. Excellent performance by Kishitani in it too, the guy chews the scenary from start to finish.

Is there an OFFICIAL U.S. release or just some imports?

Just imports right now, but I wouldnt be surprised if there was a R1 released down the road since it has played well on the festival circuit.
