The english dub is horrible, it's like they chose most of the voice actors just based off of their ethnicity and their asian accents instead of based on their ability to portray the part well or to pronounce the words correctly. Jet's voice in particular sounds like a teeanger's, and someone who hasn't been speaking English for more than 5 years.

The English dub was made by the usual person Harvey Weinstien hires to do his dubs. With that in mind, it's probably that guy's best work since most of his dubs suck (he also made the Fist of Legend dub). The Hero dub, while based on the made up subtitles that Harvey created, is not all horrible. Nothing great but not horrible. It has it's moments but it gets very very sloppy most of the time.

As far as the casting goes, almost all the leads I thought were cast very well. Tony Leung's in particular and even though he only has 2 lines, whoever they got to do Donnie Yen sounded exactly like him! Jet Li's was near perfect. The really bad casting is Cheng Dao Ming's voice and that's of James Hong. Absolutely terrible casting. His voice stands out like a sore thumb. I bet he was casted just because the dub director was just a fan of Big Trouble Little China and thought it be cool to have him doing the dub for the movie.
