Slap that Lobby card image of Lo Mang flexing/Li Yi Min posing/Sun Chien kicking (*you guys know the one!) on this baby and peddle it at BestBuy and just watch the money come pouring in!
This would be the very first official venoms mob film released on DVD in this country!
(Those nasty piss-yellow Ground Zero discs are bootlegs of bootlegs to me, and that Steeplechase thing is just a copy of the UK VHS. Yeah, I wasted my money 5 years ago.)
And since this never played on TV or in U.S. theaters, the fans will eat it up!
What's more, if it is indeed dubbed, it WILL have those "but still" voices we all know and love! heh, heh!
Now I can finally chuck those f***ed-up boots I have of this movie!

Celestial has to ok the covers, the most clear cut cover which everyone would think of, is NOT the one they will usually let them use. Also Image sometimes has a...image problem.

I have the Image version of it and it seemed better than say Water Margin as far as ghosting was concerned.

I noticed a bit of shakiness when the camera moves in Wandering Swordsman, but I didn't have any problems whatsoever with The Water Margin.

I thought the shaky, ragged camera movement was one of the more less desirable elements of Chang Cheh's style.

It looks to be Image's fault. The camera will be going left to right, and there is shakiness that should not b there.

The shakiness is the blurred frame of the PAL-NTSC transfer, made more obvious by the time stretching

I'll need to do a comparison of picture quality once I've finished watching this version.

There are no "Easter Eggs" included on the DVD.

Somewhat disappointed that the English dub was not included.

So is there any reason to get the Image release over the Celestial release now, as it's few dollars cheaper from Celestial.

Was the Celestial 5.1 or mono?

If it's not asking too much, who exactly does these releases? Do Celestial in HK put everything together and then give it to Image to sell? If so, someone needs slap them and give them a few instructions in releasing quality DVDs

1) When making a PAL-NTSC conversion which is then corrected to NTSC speed, use the PAL masters, not an existing PAL-NTSC conversion!

2) Use the correct dialects!

3) When people are kind enough to send you the dubs, use the bloody things!

I don't think you'll be buying any in the range. Image is doing whatever Celestial is giving them. That includes using the PAL-NTSC versions, language tracks, etc. That was part of the deal they made, a bad one at that.

HEAVEN AND HELL--- no english dub--surprise surprise--IMAGE has let down the fans again. no dubs for WATER MARGIN--which we all know as 7 BLOWS OF THE DRAGON has an existing dub---HAVE SWORD WILL TRAVEL --WANDERING SWORDSMAN--SHADOW WHIP--all rumoured to have dubs. maybe you can overlook wandering swordsman and shadow whip as dubs might be hard to track down - BUT- HAVE SWORD WILL TRAVEL is listed in celestials own cataloge as being in their possession with an english dub. so whats the deal? i would like to know why CELESTIAL seems to refuse to open their vaults and release their massive collection of english dub shaws. they have copies of tittles that would knock your socks off. and don,t go believeing that crap they spew about not haveing them. what is it? money--or is it that they just want to torment us. can we believe anything IMAGE tells us from now on?

Actually, I suppose I should wait to see how... INTIMATE CONFESSIONS OF A CHINESE COURTESAN and SHAOLIN INTRUDERS turn out before condemning them.

However... presumably 'Intruders' will only have a Mandarin dub so that can likely be ruled out.

How do these two... THE WATER MARGIN and HAVE SWORD WILL TRAVEL stack up against the IVL releases? I was tempted to get 'Margin' because of the Mandarin mono but IVL's 5.1 isn't on of their worst and it seems that the subs and encoding are worse. Anyone confirm? Haven't heard anything really about 'Travel'.

I should have read these posts before I went to work this morning because right afterwards I went over to BestBuy and plunked down my 19.99 for this.

Man, its a good thing I didn't get rid of my old VHS copy yet!

What's the point of going through the trouble of releasing these here in the U.S. if there are no intentions of using English audio in an English speaking country? Is it too much to ask?
France get theirs in French, Germany gets theirs in German, Japan gets them in Japanese, even Austrailia has 12 releases in English. When they stopped doing that, SVE fell off the radar.
Celestial should just make all of their releases available in all regions at the same time.

In regards to that English dubbed LEGENDARY WEAPONS OF CHINA DVD you found at Best Buy, get it now while you can or forever hold your peace! The way things are looking, it may very well have been the last English dubbed Shaw film we'll ever see get a mainstream release.
I can't tell you how much of a bummer (:( ) it was getting the same disc I already have with an even uglier cover and having to keep my crappy VHS tape that I wanted so badly to chuck in the trash...or give my niece so she could record her American Idol shows over it! :rollin

Man, I really hope Dragon Dynasty can pull the proverbial rabbit out of their hat!
Perhaps that is why they postponed their release dates on their Shaw films? Cross yer fingers!

Ah venomchamber, I feel your frustration. After browsing through the Wild Side SB releases a few days ago, I cannot understand why a similar effort can't be accomplished for the fans of regions of this world that hunger for the same beautifully packaged and extras included releases. I compare IVL, Image, and Siren to the Wild Side DVD's and really there's no comparison. We can all see how much time went into the French releases and it just plainly frustrates the heck out of me.

IMO there's definately $$$ ready to be spent here in the states for Eng. dubbed releases, including myself. But again we wait, wait and wait some more. Give us legitimate dubbed releases on the shelves of retailers and possibly Red Sun + other bootleggers will have no other choice but to back down and eventually face legal prosecution.

Agree or not, it's just my sincere opinion.
