Hello, I'm new to these boards and was wondering if anyone here has any information of some of Yuen Biao's older TV shows from the late 90's? I've read about some and found a youtube clip of Legend of Martial Alliance??

Thanks for the info...

Hi mate,

I've been meaning to reply to this for days. I have a really nice Taiwanese DVD boxset for one of his series but I've forgotten the English title!! I've actually never watched it because there's no English subtitle option.

Will get back to you with some specs, do you need English subs? Trouble is nearly all TV series sets don't have them (with the exception of his latest series Real Kung Fu, and Wing Chun).

Thanks for replying....I could stand to watch the series for the fight scenes since I'm a huge Yuen Biao fan. I look forward to hearing your reply and thoughts on the box set.

Here's a link to Yuen Biao's complete tv-ography, I've just added the details of his earlier series (will add cast later):
http://www.hkcinemagic.com/en/imovie.asp?y=&alpha=&gid=29&s=3&pid=182

All of his series' have been available to buy but most of the English friendly sites are sold out.

The series I have is called 'Legend of the Martial Alliance' which has been available in various formats. I have the only original Mandarin DVD set, which seems to be half the first series. It's hard to work our if there were to seasons of 20 episodes, or a 40 episode run and that's part one!!

There was a Japanese boxset which is meant to be all 40 parts, but apparently dubbed into Cantonese and with a second Japanese soundtrack too.

The Taiwan DVD set is still on sale and can be picked up for just 6UKP (approx).

Here's the link (same retailer I got mine from):

Here's a link to the out-of-print Japanese set:

And if you're feeling very rich, there's a Malaysian VCD 40 disc set that may well be the complete series, retailing at 75UKP!!

Wow Luckystars...thanks for all the info and the links I really appreciate it. I have some real thinking to do about the series....even though I don't understand the language, if the amount of action Yuen Biao gets to do will really be the final selling point.

Thanks again.

Again thanks for the info. I'll have to give the set from Taiwan some consideration. Although my wife just let me get Real Kung Fu and less than a month later Wing Chun....so I'll have to wait for a while. For now I have enough to keep my busy.

Thanks for the youtube clip as well. I've seen Legend of Martial Alliance. I wish Tai Seng would release more of the older TV shows on DVD. I'm waiting to purchase Huo Yuan Jia with Ekin Cheng next.

Legend of the Martial Alliance is nice but the fights were undercranked.

Righteous Guard is awesome though Yuen Biao left halfway.

Has anyone seen Legend of Chinese Hero? How's the action and the plot?

It's not just undercranking but the extent of undercranking. And in the case of Legend of Martial Arts Alliance (aka Shaolin Seven), it's quite overdone.
