Bootleg Shaw Films

Hello, I recently bought the DVD 8 Diagram Pole Fighter from KungFuDVD.com as it turns out the DVD is from PanMedia. I was told in these forums that PanMedia basiclly steals Celestials work and packages it as thier own.
This was my first DVD that I purchased over the internet. I usually buy from Best Buy and other retail stores and have been buying Dragon Dynasty's great releases.
I have only been seriously into kung fu films for several months now and was unaware of some DVD companies underhanded business practices.
The upside to this story is that I learned a good lesson, as I will no longer buy anthing that is not legit Shaw Bros. I want to do the right thing and help support those companies that are helping to promote asian MA films in a ethical manner.
The purpose of this post is to ask for help in locating web sites that sell films released by Celestial (and perhaps other companies)and at the same time provide good prices.

be aware that hkflix does carry bootlegs such as panmedia/redsun/yin yang, otherwise they carry legit material.

And you have to have a region free player for those Celestial DVDs if youre not R3.

theres a thread if you search for reccomended region free dvd players. If you're in a Target or Wal Mart, pick up any philips dvd player for I believe most of em can be hacked by inputing some numbers in the remote.

Suncoast still has them in stock. I would say they have at least 15 Red Sun/Panmedia DVDs on their shelves, and they used to have around 40. I told the guy who works there they are boots, and he assured me they are not. Then I told him YES THEY ARE BOOTLEGS, and he said there is no way they are. It was pointless trying to argue with that jackass. I just walked out. i should have kicked him in the face.

He told me his boss knows they are not bootlegs. I made very valid points and he just kept making stuff up. I told him to go f himself and then I walked out. If Suncoast wasn't at a huge shopping mall and there weren't a bunch of cops around I would have continued arguing with him, but he was trying to make me mad, and I almost lost it.

not worth it bro. You have to realize he's just doing his job for a company that has no ethics. That guy is probably getting paid minimum wage at a shit job, so im sure he could care less.

Wow! I clicked on new posts and saw this thread that I started a long time ago. I forgot all about it. I am glad that you guys keep telling Suncoast and others that they are selling bootleg MA films in their stores. Keep up the good work! Morgoth, there is a link to a page on this post/thread that gives details about Panmedia and other companies bootlegs and how they are effecting the industry. You should check that out. Perhaps you could print this off and bring it into FYE or Suncoast next time you come in and ask for the manager.
BTW- I agree with tia_shin_mun on how we tend to get angry with stores for selling MA bootlegs, yet most of us seem to be OK with trading CDR MA films. That would indeed make most of us hyprocrites who take part in these activities. If we all agreed to stop buying bootlegs from retailers and stopped trading CDR MA films then we would be left with only one option, to buy legit copies which would help support our favorite MA DVD release companies and perhaps encourage more future MA releases. The more money we spend on MA films the more the industry will be encouraged to release more great films.
