I've been reading alot recently about bad trades where one person receives their discs, then waits for months or longer to mail his discs out. The person who waits to send also always seems to have a good reason for doing so (sick, out of work, computer won't burn, out of town, ALIENS ABDUCTED THEN ANALLY PROBED THEM, ETC).

My suggestion is to both agree on a specific date when both parties pledge to mail their DVD's.

Step #1: agree on a trade.

Step #2: both begin burning DVD's and set a date when you both expect to be finished.

Step #3: Now that you're both finished burning, agree on a date to mail the DVD's.

Quick, simple, painless, and it leaves virtually no room for excuses as to why one person didn't mail their DVD's (there are post offices everywhere & you already have the burned discs ready).

PS: Life is crazy and unpredictable, sometimes it throws us a curve and a hobby needs to be put on hold.

HOWEVER, let's get real! Burning and mailing DVD's is really pretty simple and quick of a chore. Not much should happen where a person would have a valid excuse to take MONTHS to mail their end of a trade.

IF anyone else has any ideas on how to best avoid misunderstandings that can lead to bad trades, let's start a thread here!

PPS: anyone sending hundreds of dollars in cash to someone they never met except over an internet message board are askin' for trouble if you ask me. :x

i agree with this. i have not done many trades, and the trades that i have done have been sucsesful.

however i know myself and if there is a deadline it will make me get the dvd's out quicker. i dont wait a month or anything, but i have a busy life and if a deadline is not set, its easy to let time slip by.

date deadline is a great idea.

Sound like a good idea to me too Achiever. This is the way I feel about the matter: If you have told the other trader you have sent his discs, he should send his discs no later than 1 or 2 weeks maximum after you have told him. If they have already recieved your discs, they should mail yours out within the next few days or at least within one week. That's just common courtesy and being reliable. I understand sometimes emergencies come up and people just aren't able to send in a reasonable amount of time and I'm flexible with this. I just think if there is a problem, you should let the other trader know what's up so he won't start wondering if he has been duped. The trader is making amends to rectify the situation in the current trade I'm talking about thanks to another member that knows him so I'm happy and can understand and sympathize if he's had troubles. I think he is basically a good guy that just let his trades get behind.
