Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has ordered from these guys in the past? Their selection looks impressive. Since rarekungfumovies is not selling films for the time being, they look like an interesting option. Sifu Falkor, have you dealt much with these guys?

Thanks in advance

i did ,.. awesome guy ,.. and he knows his shit ,.. and i'm very perticular. Not only did i get nice upgraded versions of what some of these companies put out,..But i also got rare stuff in good quality. he tells the truth about quality,.. he will even tell you when a certain title looks like crap.

example of quality :
i have an original dvd of a movie from "VENOM MOB FILMS" Secret of the Shaolin Poles ,.. well i got a copy from Bejing Video, now how in the heck is his copy better than a studio's cut ? well this happened on a nice batch of movies i got from him,.. so i'm very pleased with him.

also he does not mind sharing info with you ,.. on movies and actors.

hope this helps HAZ

take care

Careful HAZ, Ralph A. WILL rip you off. Not a very nice guy by my experiences with him. Many years ago I thought he was cool for his dedication to the genre, of course I found out the hard way. Most of his copies were of very poor quality too. Good luck.

I ordered a few films from him that I just couldn't find anywhere else. A friend placed a pretty big order with him, too. He answered my questions quickly, which was nice. I have no clue how the quality will be. He has some good promotions - order 10, get 10 free. It will be interesting to see how this goes. I'll keep my fingers crossed! I don't remember him on the old forums.

Be careful HAZ. I had some dealings with Ralph Allen in the past and he was dishonest and ripped me off. People like him are why I quit trading movies. It is not worth the trouble.

Yo Chan!

A fellow collector & myself got a gang of movies off the guy. I got about 10. The other dude picked up 66! It took about 3 weeks for them to come. The quality is all over the place. He ranks his movies on a scale of 5 for picture quality. His 5's are not that hot, though. I don't know if I'd bother ordering from this Beijing again. "Lucky 13", the film I wanted most, looks pretty cruddy. I think its torrents & emule for me.

Thanks for the advice!

peace

A few years back, I remember a heated debate between members of this forum and Ralph Allen. It got pretty ugly with members on him about his customer service, attitude, and the quality of his movies. There was a lot of complaints about Bejing Video. Does anyone remember this or posting something about BV on that old post? From all the dissatisfaction, I learned to keep clear of BV. Is that thread still available?

I dealt with him a long time ago and while I found him to be an agreeable sort of guy, you must really ask him about the quality of the movies you want from him. I remember getting some that were not up to my expectations but he said they were pretty rare so that's the best copies available. Needless to say, I found better looking copies elsewhere.

i remember that, but there was more to the story i think. i remember him complaining about shady e bay tactics of members here that were telling sellers not to sell to him. don't remember how the thing started but that was the first big blow up i remember from this place so many moons ago.

Yeah I remember, going back many years, this Ralph person was getting slated for his attitude, customer service, the works. Maybe time 'is' a great healer.

i had dealings with this guy over 10 years ago he was alright to speak to until we started a trade i sent him a unfinished billy chong tv episode on vhs which has mike leeder in it as a gang boss and he claimed he couldnt play it when he recieved it, and he never sent what he was supposed to give me, waste of time.

Thank God I never ordered from him. I remember through the old website, I used to list all the kung fu movies I had, just to show how much of a diehard fan I am. I met this guy from California and we started trading movies. Let's just say it is a shame to this day that I lost touch with him because from the experience with Beijing Video that everyone had dealt with, this guy was definitely great in terms of trading quality products. I would send him 3 movies and he would send 3 more back.

I even got Art of High Impact Kicking from him alongside other classic films. Hmmm...maybe I should start listing my collection again...

I remember giving Ralph some info on Tony Leung Siu-Hung, when he had listed him only as "Hsiung Kuang" and I don't remember getting credit for it...Oh well...at least we got our favorite fansites...KFC is definitely a big influence on the site I run today.

Anyway, back to the topic...this RA sounds shady and I'd stay away.
