Digitally remastered 2.35 (16:9) from one of the last surviving German Prints, the following has yet to be done:
- insert 2 missing snippets on reel changes.
- insert the whole 3 mins of the Ending! someone was so clever to give the movie a completely different Ending by cutting it of just before a crucial Moment happens!

as there seemingly is no complete Mandarin Print for the Audio, missing parts have to be filled with German Inserts. Yes, this time the German Print is the longest and most violent indeed!

Bonus is the German Trailer and one Extended Ending Shot from the Mandarin Print, which can't be inserted due to the horrid Quality on hand. also a Collection of Lobby Cards from Germany.
plus the complete German 8mm Version! (47 min)

it is planned that the DVD will have ENGLISH SUBTITLES, as we're well aware this movie is very rare now and deserves to be seen by fans worldwide, especially as lots of Money has been invested in the Restoration of this Print.

yes, they released one classic KF Movie, but FORGOT (!!!) the English Subs i supplied to them! that was a major letdown, as that Movie was not available to English Speakers in watchable, good uncut Versions before (CHAO CHOW GUY)

also, the well-known "Bruce Lee Ripoff" Movie FIST OF UNICORN (German Title BRUCE LEE UND ICH) is coming to German DVD. struck from a German Print in proper 2.35 (16:9). Not completely digitally restored like THE INVINCIBLE it still is the best-looking DVD worlwide for the most part. some damaged Scenes and very slight censoring has been inserted from lesser Sources.

Also on offer are the following Audio Tracks:
English and Mandarin, BOTH COMPLETE for the whole Movie, unlike all previous DVD issues from various Companies.

Extras will be some German Bruce Lee / Unicorn Chan Features from back then and extensive Photo Galleries.

Nice spannick. Kinda unfortunate if it has an English dub (which I do like), it may not feature good English subtitles. Soulblade issued it twice, but they weren't much different from each other I don't think (ratio was messed too). It did have some interesting extras.

There was talk of missing footage from Mandarin versions (a 9 minute prologue?). Can you tell us the history of that?

Looking interesting for sure. I've been trying to get hold of the now oop mei ah print of wotdm for a while but this looks more interesting because of added english (and german) dubs aswell. Now CC at 1.85:1... I wonder if that's OAR or if the new fortune star vcd is in full 2.35:1... Not that good of a movie tho imo but since i'm addicted to oldschool sweetness i prolly must get this one anyway :D

I saw an independent Wang Yu swordplay movie in the early - mid 70s called INVINCIBLE.I remember that at some point Wang Yu loses his sight which was later on very dramatically restored.I've never seen this movie since.It was a hit and very popular at the time.Is this the same film? Just a little worried about ordering something from a website in a language I do not speak (I am based in the Uk). I think I have just successfully created an account from also having the UK amazon site up for reference. we got a German Print in 2.35 (16:9) non-restored, but looking quite okay. then the Version from a Celestial Channel (2.35 4:3, framecuts as usual, this will be used to insert the missing footage). Audio is German and english at the Moment. the Mandarin Audio from the Celestial Crap can't be used thanks to the framecuts.
German and US Trailer are already here or coming any moment.

Would it not just be easier to use the Mandarin version from Celestial as the basis - assuming it's uncut? Can be upconverted from 4:3 to 16:9 without much resolution loss. Thus the audio and image would be in-sync. German and English (if your company is bothered) subtitles can be included. Seems a better way of preserving the movie than a cut 'n' paste job without the original language.

I don't like the idea of frame cuts, but I can't say I've ever noticed when they've occured. Whereas a poorer print is always evident (and the discrepancy in quality will be noticeable). And if you're using a Celestial master for some scenes, then these will be frame cut regardless. So there's no escaping it. What I'm saying is would it not be better to be consistent with the source material?

Well, the JP tape is Eng dubbed with JP subs on the image, so that's presumably worse than burnt English subs, lol. It's more the amount of money than the buying of a VHS. I still own a couple of VHS myself, but I wouldn't pay a three-figure sum for them, lol.

The version I saw was uncut, but cropped. What are the 6 secs cut from the letterboxed Crash release, which regardless seems like a better option with original Mandarin language and Eng subs?

The picture on the UK EH release is pretty grim, the Korean bonus print of the DVD is almost unwatchable.

Hartbox is like a a chunky video box like packaging.

I think the price of a double bill German DVD on Amazon is ok - though it would help if both films were english friendly. A double bill of The Sword and Last Hurrah, with original audio and subs is a nice deal. Bandits From Shantung stuck with a Japanese film dubbed into German only less so. 10 Euros is about £10, which for two properly presented films is fine.

But when you consider delivery costs nearly as much as another disc, you can understand people being reluctant. Especially if the disc turns out to be glitchy but the sites don't offer refunds. Which is why, ironically, I wish HKFlix stocked more of these. I gave up on using the extortinate DMT - or DTM, I forget which - and settled for dvd-rs of those exclusive titles, because the site is just so damn restrictive.

yep, that's the problem, all "Hartbox" packaged titles will NOT be sold at either amazon or any shop in the area - they simply don't stock such DVDs packaged in Hartboxes (they are also used for porn movies btw.)

they are also unrated, with no FSK Classification, which again, won't be offered on amazon mostly.

i hate that situation too, but it seems that these old, unknown Movies don't sell well in ANY case so they want get the German collector's market (Hartboxes have quite a large following here, some folks are paying HUNDREDS of Euros just for one limited Hartbox)

yes, there was one by Ocean Shores. it looked really fine (print-wise and almost Full Scope), but of course the horrible Encoding was unusable for a DVD, even as Bonus Feature. it had no subs and was Mandarin Audio only.

Buddha Assassinator release was delayed afaik and according to odfb it will be shipped together with the other two titles tomorrow 'if all goes as planned with buddha killer' implying that neither of the titles are listed oop on ofdb.

I did not order these myself however, but a friend in Austria did it for me some months ago when the news reached me about the new Buddha Assassinator release. Maybe you could contact ofdb and ask about the titles?

www.filmundo.de was and always will be the best source to get unrated / hartbox packaged Movies, but i have no idea if and how it is available to foreign costumers (it's like ebay, but needs 18+ registration)

DEVIL AND ANGEL, TEN BROTHERS OF SHAOLIN and BUDDHA ASSASSINATOR will come out with the same batch in the next couple of weeks from Megamax. BUDDHA is out on a different Release now. the only difference is that the Megamax will have a German uncut Version in Fullscreen as Bonus Feature (go figure).

Somehow on my Disc with the Double Feature English Subtitles do not seem to work.
I tried it both on my PS3 and on my computer with Arcsoft Total Media Theatre 3.
So if you do not speak German (OK I am Swiss but it is technically German) be aware that the English subtitles might not work and therefore Mandarin/Cantonese tracks are pointless.
OK if you actually speak Cantonese/Mandarin just forget what I said.

i said twice here that the dvd for BUDDHA KILLER does NOT have English Subtitles. the optional English Subs are only for the missing scenes of the English Dub.

And other question which soundtrack is Cantonese the third? The cover mentions only German and on the ofdb there is only mentioned Mandarin.

Sadly i had to return my copy since it was damaged, but i got a glimpse of the quality of Buddha Killer and it's really really good! Easily compareable to the Joy Sales releases we've been seeing lately. Will be looking forward to my replacement copy which should arrive within a week or so.

Specs are English, German, Mandarin & Cantonese audio, Anamorphic WS 2.35:1, German (optional) subs, English (optional subs) only for some scenes where the english dubtrack is missing parts. Runtime is about 01:24:23 (perhaps give a few seconds for the damaged part)

Devil and Angel plays last Friday Night on the german TV Channel TELE5. This Guys bringing the Film in 2:35 and in a uncut Version!!The print have a Lot of Jumpcuts, are I thinks this the best Verion what I seen.Is longer as the old german cinema Print and the Ocean Shore.

Have the German TV Channel this Version buy from Megamax? and is the coming DVD from the self Print Spannik???
