OK, so we are all pretty much in agreement that Video Asia puts out DVDs that are absolute dreck in terms of quality. However, having read a few reviews of some movies available on the Video Asia label, there are folks who give decent reviews to the quality of the discs.

My question is this: Are there any titles available on Video Asia that are of decent quality? Without skipping? Or freezing up? I'm not talking about the picture quality-poor quality in that area is a given and one that diehard MA film fans are used to. I'm talking about the DVDs technical quality, or lack thereof.

Reason for asking is I saw a few titles on that label that sparked my interest but I'm very leery, if you get my drift.

I've heard some people say they got a couple of decent titles from Video Asia. I tried the One Armed Swordsmen, which skipped all over the place. That was enough for me, I have no desire to put money in their pockets.

Video Asia is on our list of blatent bootleg distributors. The quality of their product is consistently bad. Ground Zero used to have the worst DVD authoring and image quality (think third-generation VHS of product taped off of a TV broadcast) until Video Asia came along to replace them. While they have released some rare titles, they have also adopted the practice of re-titling unlicensed films that are still in print and releasing lower-grade versions. I recommend steering clear of their product.

Gotcha, Mark! I just wasn't sure. I knew VA released some questionable titles, but I wanted to make certain. It's a real shame, their "Martial Arts Essentials Vol. 1" collection had some pretty decent titles in it. Oh well, I can always hope for a legit release of these titles...someday.

I have some Ground Zer releases I can recommend - Fight Among The Supers is cool. Many of these films are avilable in dollar stores, 2 movies for a buck. At that price, they're worthwhile. You can also DL them if you don't want to give these companies your cash.
